More hype than fact. I enjoyed my pork shoulder, be it a bit salty, but actually enjoyed the Gran Passione Merlot even more. The ambiance is busy but friendly. Open kitchen, first-come-first-serve bar area, and very tight space throughout. Can't say I'll go back. - August 2019

Not very kid friendly menu, but we were able to find something for our 10 year old. Delicious and different menu.

The Purple Pig is one of my favorite restaurants in the city! They have a great variety of options and very interesting plates to choose from. You won't be disappointed if you're an adventurous eater.

Best restaurant in Chicago! Unique, delicious food. The milk braised pork shoulder and salt roasted beets are must haves!

Omg this place is perfect for brunch. We came here around noon (come before noon for weekend brunch to avoid the wait) after walking a short distance from the Trump Tower, where our river cruise ended. Every dish was delicious! The fried pig ear came with KALE (fried of course), the cheesy broccoli was unique with the tangy cheese sauce, the bone marrow didn't have much bone marrow but came with lots of buttery brioche bread, and the meat balls of course! We finished with loukoumades (Greek dessert of small fried doughs drenched in honey cinnamon syrup) and they were so perfectly fried, with a crispy exterior shell and soft dough on the inside. And needless to say, they have many exotic cocktails here. I especially loved the lemongrass Pisco drink, refreshing and pretty strong!

This is an amazing place. I recommend that you just let the waiter/waitress order for you. They will push your limits but you won't regret it!

Kind of loud. Good was good but too much pork and not a lot of options for the picky eater.

This place was packed, brimming with energy and excitement. Awesome Mediterranean tapas served by friendly servers. These are small plates so one person can easily finish three dishes alone. Highly recommend pork steak for two! Try milk braised pork shoulders and octopus. Don't bother with fried deviled egg.

Tapas style dishes to die for! Right off of Miracle Mile, this spot really creates the magic of Chicago city life with the amazing food to pair.

This restaurant is outstanding, but everyone knows it so the waits can be very long. Your best best if you just show up like we did is to wait it out for a spot at the bar; they're first come, first serve. This is a tapas restaurant, so excited to share 4-5 plates for party of two. It's kind of pricey, but all of our dishes were great. It's worth the splurge!

Really good food. Small portions. A little expensive, but completely worth it! Recommend a reservation and sit outside if nice weather. Can be a little cramped inside.

Paid $150 to get stuffed with delicious food and wine!

*Pigs ear salad - TONS of fried pig ear pieces, not much fried kale. Pickled peppers added a nice dimension, but wasn't my favorite dish of the night.
*Stuffed squid with fava bean puree - delicious, one of my favorites and would order again
*Milk braised pork shoulder - tender meat lightly sweetened by the milk? Nice meaty dish
*Morcilla sausage with lobster was sweeter than I expected for a blood sausage. The lobster was perfect and the pea mash was delicious and completely polished off
*Duck rillett? some kind of spread. It was alright, but I was sooo full by the time it arrived to the table.

Staff recommended a nice pinot noir to accompany everything. Liked the communal seating - this way you could spy on everyone elses dishes and if you were still hungry could order what they got.

From this observation we surmised that you shouldn't order the meatballs. Everyone who did seemed genuinely surprised at how little was in the bowl. They are tiny meatballs and there are only maybe 3-4 pieces.

No reservations so be prepared to wait +2 hours on a weekend evening. We arrived early Saturday afternoon, 3p to ensure open seating.

Just landed and straight to my hotel I go.

Oh, how convenient was this restaurant? The restaurant was right across the street from my hotel. Score!

My favorites of the night:

- Pig's Ear with Crispy Kale, Pickled Cherry Peppers & Fried Egg.

- Lobster and blood sausage

- Fried Manchego Cheese

I was a little disappointed about the dessert. Was actually looking forward to it, but I'm okay with that.

Overall, I love the ambiance, the food, and definitely the friendly staffs.

I hope you give this place a try. Cheers

my first meal in Chicago! The appetizers were all great -- bone marrow, mussels, and other sea food items. Everything is a bit on the greasy, but just don't eat the whole plate yourself. Outside seating was nice with warmer weather.

The Purple Pig was on the top of our foodie list when we hit Chicago. We got there around 6 pm and they quoted us a 2 hour wait! Not to worry we were on Michigan Ave so we gave them our phone number and they said they'll txt us when the table is ready. So we walked around shopping and grab some hot tea before they txt us said our table was ready. The food was good but a bit on the salty side for us. Three girls ordered 4 plates + dessert and we could not finish everything, I think it's because of the richness of the food. Would we come back? I don't think so.

In a city full of tapas and small plates restaurants, this one stands out, and is even favored by a number of celebrity chefs themselves. Adventurous eaters should try the pig ears, bone marrow, and foie gras with membrillo.

I like this place. Pricey for the small plate euro-style tiny meals but its good and close to all the attractions downtown if you are visiting. These folks are educated and will treat you right!
