Description
Hate waiting for elevators? You might want to consider finding yourself a job inside the former headquarters of Sears, Roebuck, and Company; it has 103 of them so, chances are, there will always be ... Read more
one waiting for you. The skyscraper, formerly known as the Sears Tower (a name which is still commonly used), is actually nine square buildings bundled together; an engineering strategy to help the 110 storey structure resist Chicago’s infamously high winds. When it finished construction in 1974, it was the world’s tallest building at 1,451 feet. The 110 storey building lost that title to the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998. The Skydeck, on the 103rd floor, allows visitors the best view of the city and provides an interactive experience. Those with a strong constitution can even step out into one of several glass boxes that hang over the building’s ledge.

I went here many years ago when it was the "Sear's" Tower, but they have upgraded it since then. We waited in line to step out onto the glass floor, which was pretty cool. Great views of the city and on a clear day you can see out across Lake Michigan. It is a bit pricey, you might want to consider purchasing the City Pass in order to get a discounted price.

Would have given it 3stars but where else can you get the view!?! Process to get up was easy enough, upstairs there was a broken wine glass sitting on a ledge, dirty wine glasses scattered around, and no flow just people milling about. View is great and there were some hard benches to rest upon.

The Sears tower is fun and is a must for anyone that hasn’t went there. It will always be the Sears to me!

If you’ve got the guts to go into a cube of glass suspended 1200 some odd feet above the hard concrete of Chicago, you don’t have to prove your courage to me in any other way.

Check the weather before coming here. If it's too cloudy you won't be able to see a thing just clouds.

If you visit the Willis Tower (Sears Tower if you're over 40) go at night. The lit up Chicago skyline is beautiful.

Came during sunset, paid for the tickets and ride up to skydeck. There were lots of people waiting in line for the ledge, it's worth going when in Chicago.

If you haven't been, go! It really is a remarkable building. The skyline view is incredible, and the opportunity to stand out on a platform of glass for a surreal experience, worth the long elevator ride to the top!

Love the views from here! Exciting to step onto the Sky Deck and look below and all around you! The waiting lines to get in are long but worthwhile once you are in to see the views. Breathtaking!

I will and still do call this the SEARS Tower. And I'm not a local.

I went on a weekday. The line was short and moving. It's pricey to go up, so get the City Pass. You can walk a few blocks to the Art Institute and make it worth your while.

The views are awesome. The skywalk is nothing spectacular, but there's three different ledges to see different parts of the city and freak out on.

I still call this building the sears tower but the view is breathtaking. Standing on the ledge is also terrifying.

If you like architecture and feel the need to get some adventure in this is a must see. The best time to go is an hour and a half before sunset so you can see the city during the day and at night.

Willis Tower provides one of the best views in Chicago. Learn a little history of what was originally Sears Tower on your way up to the Skydeck on the 103rd floor. On a clear day, you can look 50 miles out and over four states from here: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin!
