Worth the drive (10-15 min) to visit this stretch of beach that is part of the National Seashore, so well maintained and managed. May be a little quieter and less crowded. Maybe you'll visit at the time of year to be lucky enough to see the annual Riddley Sea Turtle release.

Padre Island National Seashore is the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier islands in the world. Interestingly, five of the world's seven species of sea turtle's nest here.

The Longest Stretch of Undeveloped Barrier Island in The World

Padre Island National Seashore separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre, one of a few hypersaline lagoons in the world. The park protects 70 miles of coastline, dunes, prairies, and wind tidal flats teeming with life. It is a safe nesting ground for the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle and a haven for 380 bird species. It also has a rich history, including the Spanish shipwrecks of 1554.

One of the few beaches remaking, that you can drive on, and go for miles and miles. Best if you have a 4/4 vehicle.
