Take the tour! First, go to the Cripple Creek museum across the street, where you'll see a scale model of what you're about to experience. Highly recommend this if you really want to know how the mines worked in early days. They even show you how equipment was used (the actually run it)!

From our chalet this mine is about 1.5 hours southeast at historic mining town Cripple Creek. We're much for gambling, but the town in full of casinos. What is our favorite event is the Mollie Kathleen Mine a mine shaft a mile below the surface in a real mining shaft cart. If you want to know how crazy miners were and still are and feel like you went back 100 years, you must take in this professionally guided experience in. We’ve been 3 times. It’s not cheap but its worth every penny.
