walking tour, where you can learn about the square's history in Inca times (when it was called Huacaypata) and visit the nearby Church of La Compania, or if you want to start a bar crawl from here, you cannot help but find the plaza memorable. While you stand in the plaza, you can almost see the great historical moments that occurred on this spot, such as Pizarro's proclamation that he had defeated Cuzco.

A lot people consider the Plaza De Armas to be the heart of Cusco as it's so centrally located. It's filled with restaurants and bars and museums, there's something to do for everyone. The beautiful catherdral sits right at the top of the plaza and from there you can see rows of culture at any point. Make sure to visit Cucharitas ice cream shop as it's within walking distance from the church, you won't be disappointed! But this is the best place to go to take a tour to learn the history and culture of Cusco, the Incas, and the Spanish conquest.

This is the center plaza where everything happens, so it can get crowded. Come early in the morning and just sit and people watch. There are shops and restaurants around for your to wonder around.

Plaza de Armas is the colonial center of Cusco city. The plaza features wide stone pathways and its home to two iconic buildings, the Cusco Cathedral and the Church La Compañía de Jesús.

Beautiful plaza in the center of Cusco. I would certainly have given it 5 stars if it wasn´t for all the street sellers etc that constantly bother you.

Cusco’s Plaza de Armas has served as the pulse of the city for thousands of years. The gorgeous colonial plaza is the city's focal point for tourists, with the grandiose cathedral at the center of it all. You won't be left alone by the local people trying to sell you something, but a simple smile and nod to say "no" will keep them at bay while you enjoy the sheer beauty of it all.

Every town in Latin America has a Plaza de Armas but the one in Cusco was particularly beautiful and very lively!

A beautiful plaza in the center of Cusco. Plenty of restaurants and also the main headquarters for many of the travel companies that do day trips and various treks to Machu Picchu. Lima Cathedral is here and is a must visit.

This is the center of Cusco tourism. You'll find shops and restaurants sprouting off of the square every which way. The square itself is surrounded by Spanish architecture. In the middle is a statue of a famous Inca, one that was mentioned numerous times during my tour (but now of course I've already forgotten the name!).

Plaza de Armas is where everything is happening in Cusco. You can find everything here: bank, souvenir shop, money changer, tourist offices, churches, restaurants, and so on. This place is the center stage during Inti Raymi, the festival of sun in June 24th each year.

Central area with a lot of good restaurants and bars for nightlife are to the left of the kfc down the street a little ways and to the left. The temple is a good electronic music bar that a lot of people go to.

Bustling with vendors and visitors in the square, four churches tower over them. It is incredible to see the heart of the Inca capital. There are many great restaurants nearby and alleys to discover with Inca stonework walls.

Exotic and familiar all at once, this is the part of Cusco to best base yourself. A beautiful plaza lined with historic buildings and throngs of great hotels, bars, restaurants, shops and travel agencies. The Plaza itself is beautiful and elegant, but my high rating is for the area and its surrounds as a place to base your visit. Just awesome.

Plaza de Armas was indeed the "heart" of Cuzco. It was bustling with activity at night. Many tourists were seen walking around the plaza, visiting local shops and restaurants that line the perimeter of the plaza. Locals visited street food carts, which were as alluring as the restaurants. In the backdrop of the plaza lied the Cathedral and another church, too. Plaza de Armas seemed to be a great meeting place and a place to relax and people watch.

The focal point of Cusco and a great place for people watching. A highlight of Cusco is sitting at one of the restaurants / cafes overlooking the square and watching the world go by.

The Plaza de Armas is the main square of Cusco and it's where you'll find a great amount of restaurants, shops, money exchange booths, hostels, bars, pubs, drugstores and souvenir shops. It's also where the Cusco Cathedral is located and most likely a mandatory spot to visit at night, since all main roads start from there. The square is beautifully gardened and clean, the only downside is that you'll be approached every 5 seconds or so by someone trying to sell you something,

Cusco's main plaza is a large and spacious thing. Not much in way of green space, but the amazing size of some of the reused Incan stones in the surrounding building is amazing. Check out the cathedral that dominates the plaza. It is was built on top of an important Incan temple in an attempt to stamp out the indigenous religion.
