Da Nang Vacations

Da Nang is a busy port city in central Vietnam and, though often overlooked by tourists heading to better-known cities, is a deserving destination in its own right. Popular among G.I.’s during the Vietnam War for its beautiful beaches, the city has developed rapidly and is host to any and all types of hotels and restaurants. The most prominent ... Read more
attraction in the city is the Marble Mountain site, comprised of rocky outcroppings dotted with ancient pagodas stretching above China Beach. The city is not known for many internal tourist attractions, but it serves perfectly as a budget-friendly base for day trips to many nearby locations, including multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Vietnamese food is unique and refreshing, and Da Nang has offerings across the board. Wander along My Khe Beach or through the city center and pop into a local bar. You will be happy you did as you feast on traditional dishes and drink beer with embracing locals late into the night.

A beautiful coastal city that is currently growing rapidly and becoming a hot spot beach destination. There are several resorts dotting down the coastline to stay at ranging from US chained hotels to international and local lodgings. If you do not have the budget to stay in a beachside resort, no worries, it is cheap to get around in Vietnam and there are public beaches available in Da Nang. The city is centrally located in Vietnam and easy to pop around into smaller towns within the area. Great food and things to do within the area.

It is common for backpackers to pass by Danang and head straight to Hoi An but if you're looking for a place to relax for a few days and take in a museum or two, consider visiting Danang. The seaside and My Khe beach is very charming and the neighbourhood near the beach has a laid-back vibe to it with lots of local and other Asian tourists coming in for surfing opportunities. There are some great coffee shops and restaurants, and if you have a motorbike there are plenty of day-trip opportunities.

Right in the middle of Vietnam, most of travelers use Da Nang just a as a jumping point to the marvelous Hoi An, less than 30km South. But it is a buzzing modern city, with great seafood and restaurants, beaches and a a mountainous peninsula, worth its own tour.

Da Nang is a beach town in central Vietnam. This is a very popular destination for backpackers, family travelers, and domestic tourists. I enjoyed the afternoon by the beautiful blue sea.

Just half an hour up the road you'll find Da Nang, which is a huge stretch of golden sandy beach with a few good places to eat and drink. Stop by My Casa restaurant for amazing authentic Italian food (evenings only) in a cool old house setting. Also don't miss the trip to see the Lady Buddha which is at the north end of the long bay, and overlooks it. The white statue is really cool to see up close and the drive to get there is just lovely too. Again, you'll have the beach all to yourself in Da Nang as locals don't like to sunbathe, but everyone comes out at sunset to enjoy the beach when the sun isn't as strong.

Most people often overlook Danang in favour of its prettier and more tourism friendly neighbour, Hoi An. However, Danang is certainly worthy of a couple of days out of your itinerary and is certainly a lot cheaper than Hoi An. It's come along leaps and bounds in the last few years, with its new selection of decent guesthouses and the impressive Museum of Cham Sculpture. A large city with a small town feel that will impress those who give it a chance.

For being such a big place, Da Nang isnt such a bad city. It attracts more of an expat crowd rather than tourists, which says a lot for the place. I didn't stay overnight, but just visited on a day trip from Hoi An. Beaches are nearby.

This is Vietnam's fifth largest city and was our gateway to Hoi An with is Imperial City. Da Nang is probably most famous for My Khe Beach known as China Beach in the war.
