The Henry Ford Museum is not just a shrine to the American automobile maker; it's an incredible survey of American history. The highlights for us were the Dymaxion House, Rosa Parks bus, George Washington's camp, a ride in a Model T, and the Douglas DC-3 airplane. There are literally a million artifacts, and you can spend hours here so if you are tight on time, do a little research and plant accordingly.

Great museum with lots of interesting items. There's something for everyone. Make sure you allow at least 1/2 day to see everything. We toured the Rouge Factory before the museum. Both were great experiences.

When you visit the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, you will come away with a memorable experience that will last a lifetime. This historical timecapsule has an inventory of antique automobiles, from the early days of the automobile to the Ford Edsall of the 1950s, that was for me, the highlight of the Ford Museum. They also had the Presidential Limo that JFK was killed in at Dealy Plaza in Dallas, and the Ronald Reagan's limo during the 1980s, along with the Rosa Parks Freedom Bus from Montgomery, Alabama. I believe that this museum, along with the Smithsonian in DC, are the two best Museums of history in the United States.

Henry Ford Museum is a huge museum about the history of the Automobile and its manufacturing of the auto. Disability access is about 90% with lots of areas to sit and rest. Disability parking is limited and very little room to let a lift out. You will need about 6 hours to 8 hours to visit the museum.

It contains a fascinating wealth of American culture, such as the chair Lincoln was sitting in when assassinated and the bus on which Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat. Loads of vintage cars, too. Located 10 miles west of Detroit in suburban Dearborn.

Coming from a very historic location, Cape Cod, MA I appreciate history and when I went to the museum I actually found an exhibit that had Sandwich Glass, my family (13th Gen Mayflower) used to make Sandwich glass and to think back then it traveled that far to Michigan is amazing.

Excellent attraction.

What a great museum! Based on the name I expected a car museum, but this is so much more. Yes, there is an original Model T, but this is a museum celebrating Americana. Exhibits include furniture from the 1700's to the present, memorabilia from each generation in America beginning with the '40's (I fondly took a picture of the, "1987 Typical Teen's Bedroom"), enormous antique electrical generators, a massive aeronautic display, and a sobering civil rights exhibit. You can board the actual bus that Ms. Rosa Parks stood her ground on, in addition to women's suffrage memorabilia. The temporary exhibit while I was there was about The Wizard of Oz; mainly for young children but included some antique objects and info that adults would appreciate. There is also an IMAX theatre and the option of combining admission price with the Village nextdoor (a collection of different types of American homes, bought by Mr. Ford after he became so rich he didn't know what else to do with his money.) All in all, this is a very educational museum for those interested in American history, touching on every part of our culture, from fashion and technology to social-political issues.

I visited this place and I thought it was quite nice. It is not the Guggenheim or the Air and Space Museum but I did learn some things and I enjoyed my visit.
