This place has great interior, comfort leather soft seat, a bit too dark lighting is more fit for romance than a family. Food is quite pricey, paid $18 a person yet still not full. Pasta + Pizza. The pizza is a thinner size, the edge is mostly burn. inedible, too much olive oil. Cheese is good but is not enough, didn't like that the veggie didn't stick in the pizza at all, basically they just add the veggie after the pizza is cook. the good part of the pizza is the meat, i think is some sort of smoke ham very delicious.

The pasta was urchin with crabs, very Delicious but portion is too small. I can understand they can gave you less crab and urchn but lack of pasta that cost $18 not just justified, I think most people order entree and pizza no single one order pizza that might explain it, With italian restaruant, stick with their specialty, most of them only does well in 1 area. This place is probably their entree.

Food was good in most area just the pasta too less portion, the waitress wasn't that helpful.

Rustic Italian and an inspired bar make for Mediterranean bliss. Make-your-own Bloody Mary bar with pickled veggies and no fewer than 20 different hot sauces to choose from, weekend drinking just became an interactive event.

Joa K. promised me a day trip to San Diego for my birthday (yes my birthday was in the summer), so this weekend I cashed in. We decided to go to Davanti Enoteca for brunch since it was a) near Extraordinary Desserts and b) Italian food, which Joa and I both enjoy. We walked around the farmers' market prior to arriving at the restaurant to whet our appetites. We definitely started to fill up on samples before we turned down the street and found Davanti. It's located next to the Princess (British) Pub which I thought was interesting since this was Little Italy, after all.

The decor is rustic but warm and inviting. Our server quickly brought us water in a giant bottle sans ice, so that we could refill ourselves, which I think is great. I hate having to try to catch a servers attention just for a water refill. We quickly ordered a few drinks to start our brunch: Bellini and a Leonardo (prosecco & strawberry juice). As for food we ordered the roasted beets with creme fraiche, walnut sauce and honeyed walnuts as a starter. The beets were nicely roasted and paired with toasted honeyed walnuts which gave it a sweet and slightly bitter bite. It was light and a perfect way to start our meal.

For the entrees, we ordered the poached eggs with pork belly, potato hash, avocado and hollandaise, which was divine. Puncturing the egg and letting the velvety golden yolk drizzle over the potato hash and crispy pork belly and then taking a bite was like a symphony coming to a crescendo in my mouth. It was beyond heavenly.

The next entree we had was the giant sausage rigatoni with tomato sauce, which was perfectly al dente. Oddly enough, as popular Italian food is in America, I find that not all pasta is cooked perfectly or maybe it's because I watch too much Food Network. This pasta was perfect, albeit I did add a tiny bit of crushed red pepper and oregano from the herb/spice cups they use instead of shakers. I also noticed that they didn't offer to sprinkle any grated parmesan on the pasta which I have come to expect at most Italian places. Despite the lack of cheese, the pasta was perfect on its own.

We didn't order dessert because we were going somewhere else for that. I really liked the overall layout of the restaurant and the patio area is really quaint. The patio heaters were really cool looking because they looked like giant flaming lava lamps. I also noticed that they have a bloody Mary bar on the weekends as well. Our service was great, the food was great, and I really liked the vibe at Davanti. 5 stars.

Tapas style Italian fare that's meant to be enjoyed family style. The pate is savory and rich and the pork belly is a must order. Entrees are on the larger side, so if you're very hungry, order the chicken. It's so tender and perfectly marinated. For dessert, indulge in the chocolate tart. It's divine! Ask for a table in the back open air section, especially on a nice night.
