shops, the Spice Souk (or Old Souk) is the place to find the seasonings that give many Arabic and South Asian foods their distinctive flavors. Keep looking and you will find plenty of textiles, rugs and artifacts to take home with you as well. Do not waste time looking for price tags here; most of the trade in the Souk is determined by haggling.

When visiting Dubai, you absolutely must set aside some time to explore the spice souks in Deira, the old part of town. The tight alleyways lined with shops with entice your senses; the colors and smells filling the air. Most shop owners are happy to explain spices to you and reccomend teas and herbs to meet your needs.

The spice souk was just okay but I do recommend you explore beyond the souk to the more local spice shops. Just a few blocks from the souk, you can find a lot of local spice shops with bags and bags of spices from saffron to dried rose petals. Since saffron is so expensive in the u.s., I would definitely recommend picking some up here to bring home.

Simply amazing view with the colours and the aroma of the spices. Great place to visit if you love spices or simply take in the view of the so-called local market. We've never seen most of the spices but it was still quite an inspiring trip.

The Spice Souk is located in Deira and is adjacent to the Dubai Gold Souk. The souk comprises several narrow lanes which are lined with open and closed-roof stores.

The stores sell a variety of fragrances, spices, shisha, clothing and other textiles. I love the Souk because you get to haggle and find some wonderful trinkets to take home.

Remember if the price isn't right, walk away and the shop owner will come running out to make a deal.

Fun and worth a visit, but prepare to be accosted by all the sellers. Not really open until after 4 and most fun at dusk when you can take the water taxis back and forth across Dubai Creek between the souks.

Good atmosphere and a nice place to pick up frakincense or saffron to take home. Be careful if you are buying saffron. You need to know what you are looking for or you may end up with inexpensive and culinarily worthless saffron flower.

Pretty neato. Theres some spices that you wouldn't see any elsewhere and also just seeing them all laid out is pretty cool.
Bargain if you're good at it, the people there are pretty nice.

Great place to visit especially if you're a foodie. Spice stalls offer exotic products from all over the Middle East. Apart from the typical spices, various dried flowers are also sold for making teas.

Amazing and exotic. One of the true places to experience the Middle East. The aroma of exotic spices and colour are wonderful.

This is where the city's soul resides and it is absolutely my favorite part of Dubai. It's bustling with locals, tourists, laborers, expats etc... everyone is there. You can find one of a kind treasures and cheesy souvenirs. But most of all this is where you can be a part of old Dubai. If you enjoy cooking, this is a spice paradise. You can also buy dates and other foodie goods. Lots of "natural viagra" around. :o) Enjoy!

The colors, the aromas, the hustle and bustling, and the energy of active trading of the spices are so prevalent here it is absolutely a wonderful experience just walking around and taking in the experience of the spice market.
