If you want to take a quick drive south, about 15 Minutes you can go to the very fancy Las O Las street and walk around the river walk. It is beautiful pet friendly, and peaceful in the early mornings and late after noon :)

Walk along the New River or take the water taxi. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, bars along 2nd Street. Many younger locals go there at night or you can stop by Yolo's or Vibe on Las Olas Blvd until the early morning hours.

Riverwalk in Fort Lauderdale is a great outdoor spot that offers all kinds of art and entertainment. Here, you’ll find lots of year-round events including live jazz on the park. You’ll be able to check out ballet performances, art exhibits and even opera shows. Those who want to see enticing artwork can enjoy checking out the many different exhibits found in the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale while others who prefer history, can head to the   Fort Lauderdale Historical Society for a variety of tours and events.

Located in the historic district along the New River, Riverwalk offers an array of restaurants, club bars and a movie theater. Take a river bus ride to see beautiful homes and fancy yachts. The Riverwalk Jazz Brunch is held on the first Sunday of each month from 11a.m. - 2p.m. and is free.

The riverwalk is a fantastic location near Las Olas. The walk offers very nice water views of beautiful homes and yachts. There is dining areas and bars. At night it becomes very romantic with little areas to stop a moment and take in the sights.

Spanning the north and south banks of Fort Lauderdale’s New River is the Riverwalk Park, a waterfront park in the heart of Downtown. Along these historic banks, Native Americans brought their ocean catches upriver to trade, and early settlers brought their harvest for rail shipment north. This bustling area eventually served as Fort Lauderdale’s birthplace. Today, lush tropical landscape and winding walkways link attractions, restaurants and shops on Florida’s most beautiful mile. Riverwalk Park is a multimillion-dollar project involving state, local and private funding and combining the arts, history, entertainment, higher education and various businesses.
The Riverwalk now serves as the crown that holds together the jewels of art, history, entertainment, culture, education, and business in our urban setting along the historic New River. As Downtown Fort Lauderdale emerges as a pedestrian-friendly world-class city, look for Riverwalk to play an increasingly important role as a quiet oasis in the hustle and bustle of City life and a vibrant gathering place for our emerging community.

The Riverwalk is just about a10 minute walk from the Boat House that takes you along the New River. Along the way stop in at the Chimney House for dinner or Sunday Brunch.

The best breakfast in Fort Lauderdale is at the OB House, (Hammershe Avenue) get there early in weekends as there is usually a long line.

Briny's Pub....a great drinking and fun Irish bar right on the river. Watch the boats go by and the Jungle Queen paddle boat.

The Water taxis have a stop in the Riverwalk that will take you on a great ride (narrated) down the New River and to the beach's on A1A

A movie theater is located here, along with a few restaurants. You will find a few restaurants along the river here, as well as a walkway to the beautiful Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

I think that some reviewers are confused about Riverwalk :)

It's a linear park which runs alongside the New River from the Stranahan House On Las Olas to the Museum of Discovery & Science and the Broward Performing Arts Center. It's not on the beach and doesn't have clubs.

However, it's a lovely park and a great place to walk or sit and watch the river traffic go by. On the first Sunday of every month there's a free jazz event with musicians and food booths.

Literally on the beach. Cannot get much better. Just know the nights that people go to the riverwalk because its not every night.

Basically a continuation of Las Olas Boulevard, but a little wilder and a lot less classy. This is where Fort Lauderdale heats up at night, with clubs, big bars and a 24/7 party.
