Freeport Vacations

Beaches, fish frys and Lucayan National Park characterize Freeport, which is also a free trade zone located on Grand Bahama Island. Cruise ships stop nearby but Freeport doesn't have as many attractions or get as many tourists as Nassau. But the area is home to an outrageous number of amazing white-sand beaches, Xanadu Beach being only one of them. ... Read more

Weather

The Bahamas is one of those rare slices of paradise that enjoys gorgeous weather year-round. This is a place where 60 (15) is “cold”: most days, temperatures hover in the high 70s and low 80s (26-29). Most ... Read more
people head here when the winter weather at home gets them down, driving up prices and causing the beaches to be more crowded. To avoid bumping elbows with other tourists, visit during the off season (and feel good about huge savings on your hotel). However, having a beach all to yourself comes with a different price: June 1 to November 30 is hurricane season, so be sure to keep a (sunglass-covered) eye on the weather in case of a storm.

There is not much going on where the cruise ships dock, so you need to procure transportation to the marketplace area, or your hotel. People are really friendly here and you can strike up some entertaining conversations.

I took a day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Freeport Bahamas for 12 hours. About 4 hours each way and 4 hours in Bahamas with a tour guide and got to visit 2 places and a private beach as part of a tour.

Just a great place to relax and have a good beachy time. Probably going to stay at your resort more than you'd tourist around, but if that's your jam, this is a good place for it.

Been here a lot as it's a frequent spot for cruising. People are very friendly. Local food was an experiment and the water is perfect.

It was gorgeous!! The ocean is gorgeous and the people are polite and helpful. Although there wasn't much to do in close distance to the hotels, there was a lot just a little drives away!!

The people of Freeport are some of the friendliest people I have ever met! They couldn't have been more accomodating if they tried. We were 5 women traveling together. Felt so safe wherever we went.

Marion and I took a cruise ship out of Fort Lauder dale to the Bahamas and it was great. But they drive on the wrong side of the road there like they do in Ireland...

The water is beautiful. The Atlantic ocean is a mix between a crystal clear and deep blue. The coral reefs are amazing, never seen anything like that in my life!
