The west coast of Norway is utterly spectacular with its fjords, and the most breathtaking of all is the Geiranger Fjord. The fjord runs over nine miles in length with dark mountains rising straight up out of still mirrored glass water. Waterfalls seem to cascade everywhere from above, especially the "Seven Sisters" which is a grouping of seven waterfalls. It is a rare combination, the water and mountains, one of the special places in the world.

Geiranger Fjord is truly spectacular! It is part of UNESCO world heritage list. Take a cruise/ferry and enjoy impressive steep mountains and numerous waterfalls. The views are unbelievable. You won’t stop taking pictures.

Geiranger is a must-see if you're traveling through Norway's fjords. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is accessible via a large car ferry from the tiny town of Hellesylt to Geiranger itself, a lovely small town framed on the edge of the gigantic glacial fjord. The leisurely ferry ride is a great opportunity to admire the fjord's myriad waterfalls and abandoned centuries-old lakeside farms that were home to some of Geiranger's first settlers. The town itself is small, but swells with character. Weekends are busy with cruise ship visitors, filling up the four-star Union Hotel, shopping at boutiques like Moods of Norway or soaking up mountain views from scenic local restaurants like the Westeraas Farm, where guests can eat organic, farm-raised cuisine or stay overnight at rustic cabins with fjord views.

I and my friends just drove to Geiranger fjord from Alesund and the place is just spectacular and majestic!! Driving through tunnels and zigzag roads and crossing a lake onboard a ferry boat, we reached the highest look out of the mountain where below the postcard like fjord and Geiranger town can be seen. I can't stop photographing and clicking both my camera and my Ipad2. It was breathless!!! I have never seen anything like this beautiful. We drove down to the small village town and buses of tourists are seen excitedly taking photogrpahs of the fjord view. Some just walking in a relaxing mood or just simply sitting and having a picnic under the sun at the same time admiring the beauty of the place. Geiranger is Norway's top tourist attraction and is listed in UNESCO's World Heritage sites.

Norway has many impressive sites but this IMHO is probably the best. We took a cruise up this fjord and it is just gorgeous. If you have a chance when make sure you don't miss this natural setting.
