Love the lodge at north rim rooms are vintage very close to the canyon. Rooms are clean and you can't beat the view
Approximate 2 hour drive from the cabin.
Word of mouth has that the more remote, harder to get to and therefore less crowded North Rim offers a more authentic Canyon experience and better views. However, there is no bus service on this rim and it is closed during the winter.
Can you say freshest air ever?! Throughour the whole trip with my boyfriend, he thought we were mainly going to the south rim, where all the tourist are. Who knew we would end up at the north instead? I never been to the grand canyon before, so I wouldn't know how we ended up at the North rim. Thanks to the GPS, this was a fun experience!
North rim known for family trip, honeymoon or a get away thing. Their lodge are booked in a year advance, and we lucked out and got one of the last 3 rooms they had which were from cancellation throughout the day. The north rim is very quite, enjoyable and peaceful. Only thing you won't like is that there is no phone service, not unless you drive back out a mile to use your phone. They have a gorgerous view, with long chairs for you to sit to either enjoy a beer or a cocktail. The whole place is like a couples therapy getting away trip. Noone can bother you and you can just wake up to quietness.
Their lodges have fridge, soap, shampoo, hairdryer, and a heater. The north rim can get really cold during the winter or spring, so make sure to bring a coat. There's no TV so don't expect that because there's no signal up there. Parking is free and if you like to use internet or have WiFi, they do have a shop that's a mile out for you to use. They have a resturant here, a little saloon bar/ coffee shop, gift shop and a deli shop if hungry.
overall experience, loved it! Worth the drive!
Nice place to relax, and take a 1/2 hike to a vista point for pictures. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery. Clean restrooms. They also have a deli, restaurant and gift shop.
If you dare anticipate a spectacular view of the Grand Canyon, you'll find it from the ledge in front of the Grand Canyon Lodge. I far prefer the N. Rim to the South Rim, far less commercialized, untainted. The trails are remarkable and food at the Lodge - excellent. The Lodge itself is in a classic old Natl Parks style, thick timbers, high roof. The windows provide audacious and stunning views of the Grand. A totally Grand experience but make reservations in advance, the dining room can book up to 6 weeks in advance! Enjoy!
Just a day trip from Brianhead - spectacular.
