When you stay with Deb Woodruff at the Blue Heron B&B, you have a cozy bedroom and bath or a small cottage that feel like home (except cleaner than my Santa Monica apartment). From the moment Deb picks you up at the airport or ferry, you feel like you've just made a great friend. Although I'm used to organizing my own itinerary, Deb booked my whale watch on the Taz (see review) and my Glacier Bay Day Tour (see review) for the same rates I would have paid if I'd booked them myself. Deb is very knowledgeable about the activities, and she wants to ensure that every guest has a fabulous experience in Gustavus/Glacier Bay. (I booked my own room at the Glacier Bay Lodge because I had found a discount through the Lodge's website.) Other innkeepers in town also typically arrange all a guest's activites. Deb's breakfast are so fortifying, that I didn't need lunch, only dinner in the two nights I spent at the Blue Heron. My breakfast varied daily, and one morning I had a made-to-order omelette along with fresh fruit, coffee and oatmeal. Toast and bagels were available but I didn't want to gain so much weight at breakfast that I felt like an anchor during my whale watch. Deb also booked my dinner reservations at the Bear Track Inn and the Gustavus Inn respectively. I've never been on a cruise ship, but I felt like I was a guest on the Cunard line because Deb took such great care of me. My single accommodation in the Blue Room cost $115 per night. Doubles in the cottages run $185 for two people.
