Love spending a day at half moon bay beach with my friends or family. The Ritz is a super nice add on, the service is on point.

Excellent golf courses and amazing views. Scottish bag pipe player at sunset and marshmallows cooked on the fire pit.

We had a wonderful afternoon here. We were given a tip to park for free at the end Redondo Beach Rd or free and hike a short way into the resort (saving $25). The resort is set high on a cliff face overlooking the Pacific, such a stunning location. We stopped at the resort's outdoor bar and ordered the s'mores kit for the kids. They loved roasting the marshmallows over the fire in the firepits. It was a really fantastic afternoon and we plan to go back and spend a night in the future...

We went there for lunch, we didn't stay the night but it's worth the visit even if you don't plan to spend the night. The views of the hotel are beautiful! You can sit by the fire pit outside have a glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful sea. Grave a bite or sit at one of the restaurants. The service is very good

One of my favorite spots in Half Moon Bay. Gorgeous romantic sunsets, dog friendly & a perfect spot to bring the family to hang out! The clean white sand and breathtaking backdrop make for a memorable photo op. Helpful tip: keep your little ones close on the paths down to the beach, there's some poison oak that lines the walk.

One of the nicest high end restaurant/resort you can find in Bay Area. Very luxury and very romantic, average price for the brunch is about $110 per person. Pricey but worth the visit on special occasions

What an awesome place. It felt like we were in England with all the greenery and the grand hotel with a breathtaking backdrop of the cliffs and ocean. At dusk, with the mist and fog hovering over the hotel, it almost looks haunted and eerie. A very cool effect. One can meander around the paths along the golf courses. It's also a dog friendly place. There's a path to the beach where you can have your pooches loose on the beach-it's a secluded cove. Don't quite know the off-leash policy. Then, you can relax by the fireplace, roast some marshmallows and stargaze. If you're a high roller, it's only about $600 per night. Since I'm a low-roller, I just went there for half a day.

The Ocean Terrace at the Ritz is one of my favorites. It offer spectacular view of the Ocean & the golf course, while you enjoy delicious snacks cuddled near the fire pit.

During the Fall, there can be amazing sunsets that you can view from the Coastal Access path, this one was on Thanksgiving day 2012.

This place has the best view in the bay area! The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful beaches in the bay, on top of a cliff, with great hiking trails around it and an amazing golf course. It's a great place for a brunch with a beautiful ocean view and a nice buffet.

The Ritz may be expensive but you don't need to stay here to enjoy it. My wife loves getting an overpriced glass of wine and some munchies and enjoying the sunset on either the back patio or the main bar area. Outside, the bag pipers play as the sun sets. Memorable and often stunning!

Location, Location, Location.....

It doesn't get better than this place. Great staff, restaurants, rooms and vibe, but the location is breathtaking.

I will join the others in griping a bit about the location of the pool....but even that was not a huge deal, you just have to walk a little bit. My favorite place to hang out was (with a cocktail) near the fire pit facing the ocean, listening to the waves crash onto the shore.

If you get the chance, you must stay here at some point!

Grab a seat on the patio to enjoy the stunning views of the pacific. Try to score a seat by the fire pit if it's a chilly day.

Finally, I had the chance to visit the infamous Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. This property has a well-deserved fantastic reputation. The location makes for a perfect Northern California state-cation or company retreat; it's about 45 minutes from San Francisco and 30 minutes from Silicon Valley. Easily accessible, but feels like a world away.

The theme of this Ritz is wine and fire, honoring the wine of the region and the need for fire to keep warm on the chilly coast. This creates a cozy atmosphere, making you feel right at home. Of course incredible local food is also honored in two restaurants, one of which (Navio) is undergoing renovations and upgrades this Spring.

This is an ideal destination for golfers since the lodging is located between two excellent courses boasting views of the Pacific coast. The hotel also welcomes furry guests; they even have a monthly Yappy Hour.

There are endless different room types, which means there is a perfect fit for everyone. The one Ritz Carlton Suite on property is especially impressive; the perfect place to host a cocktail party and indulge in the plush surroundings. Rooms with fire pits are also extraordinary. Imagine grabbing a s'more package, selecting a bottle of red wine and curling up on your porch by the fire. Then you can truly appreciate this reasons this secluded escape earned this fantastic reputation.

Virtuoso amenities include: upgrade to the next room category at time of check-in based upon availability, daily breakfast, $100 spa credit and early check-in/late check-out subject to availability.

We stayed here mid-week (husband + 2 kids). Fortunately for us, it was not busy. The staff were very friendly, especially to our busy children in the two restaurants. They also upgraded us proactively. You cannot beat the views. Meal prices are high, but they work hard to provide local, in-season, varied options. Great drinks too! Morning coffee is free in the Conservatory.

Located on private bluffs in gorgeous Half Moon Bay just south of San Francisco the Ritz has it all. If you're a San Franciscan go for a little staycation (weekend get away), and if you're in from out of town come here for authentic Californian luxury. Play a round of golf on their private course, then get a massage or unwind in the spa before having a glass of California wine while watching the sunset by the fire-pits.
