A must to experience the beginning of the end of slavery and the beginning of the USA Civil war. Great hikes, fabulous enactments. Also the preparation of the Lewis and Clark expedition as well as the beginning of automated industry.

You can park at the train station free with a US National Parks pass, or park outside town and take the free shuttle in. Be sure to hike up to "Jefferson Rock" for an incredible view!

Must take tour. So informative. Walk along river and visit the shops. Get a great lunch or ice cream. Great trails for biking or mountain claiming. Hiking along canals. Parking is not great. Small area far off but there is a bus to take you in and out. Or ride a train in.

Actually the majestic natural beauty of Harpers Ferry deserves more than just five stars! The view of the Potomac River and Shenandoah River meeting is breathtaking. It is one of my favorite places in all of North America.

Museum town. Walk down the streets to see the exhibits. Fascinating history of the Pre-Civil War period, John Brown's raid on the federal armory. Gorgeous views of the potomac river nearby.

For a great half-day hike, check out the "Maryland Heights" trail. It's about 5 miles round-trip, and can get steep in parts, but is a lovely trail. At the top, you're rewarded with a picturesque view of Harpers Ferry as well as the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meeting. Finish it off with a nice lunch back on Washington Street.
