August 6, 1945. The park was created in a field created by the explosion and every year, on August 6, the City of Hiroshima holds the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony at the park to console the victims of the atomic bombs and to pray for the realization of lasting world peace. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is the primary museum in the park dedicated to educating visitors about the bomb, offering exhibits and information covering the build-up to war, the role of Hiroshima in the war up to the bombing and extensive information on the bombing and its effects, along with substantial memorabilia and pictures from the bombing.

A trip to Peace Memorial Park is a must for any visit to Hiroshima. Many of the memorial sites can be found in this general area, culminating with the Memorial Peace Museum. The Park is lovely in autumn, with stunning foliage and strolling paths. The grounds are dotted with somber, but beautiful remembrances of the tragic attack on Hiroshima.

This used to be the pulse of the city until it was destroyed in the WWII atomic bombings. As they decided not to rebuild it is now a peace park for everyone to visit. It's a bit of dark history but one that needs to be shared and visited in order to understand. It's a solemn experience for sure, but so important to have especially as an American.

I hope the world leaders learn from history and such atrocity never happens again.

Peace memorial Park is a beautiful and clean park. It is a place of memorial of people who died innocently after the atom bomb. Japanese will remember these people because of cruel war.

Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park is in area that used to be the city's political & commercial hub. After the atomic bombing, it was decided not to rebuild, but instead to develop into a memorial of the bombing, as well as a center for the promotion of world peace. The area includes the Peace Memorial Museum, the A-Bomb Dome, the Cenotaph for the A-Bomb Victims & Children's Peace Monument.

This relatively large park is generally quiet. The actual monument and the museum are located near the center. There are other offerings by various groups and associations around the park.

Hiding the most important spots of Hiroshima in it's beauty. The cherry trees were on a full blossom when I went to Hiroshima and it was something I can't describe. Seeing the monuments and Genbaku Dome for the first time in my life is a moment that has no words. No feelings, just a dream like state of mind "is this all really true".
