once ruled the city. As you step inside, you might notice that something is amiss: stained glass windows destroyed by World War II that remain lost. When construction began on October 7th, 1877, the French priest Colombert worked under the watch of the French engineer, Baurad. Today, you can enjoy the tranquility of the design of the cathedral's interior.

Completed in 1880, this Catholic Church is known for its soaring Gothic arches and bright red brick. Every item was imported from France. The lady of peace statue was completed in 1959 by an Italian sculptor and shipped from Rome.

It’s a beautiful building, one of those that draws attention. Although in Vietnam it is easy to see French colonial architecture, this church is one of the most incredible.
Currently, the site has become a prominent architectural symbol of the city. People come to this place not only to pray, but also to visit a major tourist attraction of Ho Chi Minh City.

This was quite interesting to visit the church here. It looks like Europe but it is smaller. Anyway, the surrounding is quite and good.

Love this cathedral! It looks literally like the on in Paris but it is smaller. Ho Chi Minh City Notre Dame is not impressive from the inside but looks amazing from the outside. It has different design than all the other buildings, so you don't have to be an architecture lover to tell that it was built by colonizers not Viets.

This Notre Dame Cathedral is a lot smaller than the Parisian one, but it is still impressive. You can tell the Vietnamese are proud of it and you’ll often see wedding photos being taken out the front of the building. Inside there cathedral some of the original stained glass is still there and there are many devotional tablets throughout. The opening hours are a little strange – 8am – 11am during the week, plus for one hour between 3pm and 4pm. On Sundays there is a service at 9am.

This 19th-century cathedral was built by French colonists and is a popular spot for tourists, as it's just across the road from The Central Post Office. Look out for the lovely statue of the Virgin Mary in the park just outside.

This French-built cathedral occupies scenic Paris Square in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. It is a popular tourist stop so can be very busy. The square itself is also picturesque.

Notre Dame, a leftover from Vietnam's French colonial days, is a charming cathedral in the middle of downtown Saigon. For travelers, it's part of a trifecta of historical sights, along with the Central Post Office just next door and the Reunification Palace at the opposite end of 30-4 Park. Much like the rest of Saigon's sights, this is a place to admire along with an activity: take a walk around the park, snap some photos in front of its beautiful red-brick facade or have a coffee, either in the fancy, air-conditioned Coffee Bean nearby or like the locals do on stools and newspapers in the park. Whether you linger in front of the cathedral or not, it's worth passing by this part of downtown, as it's both an important historical area and one of the city's nicer neighbourhoods.

Such a beautiful landmark, is the Notre Dame Cathedral. In fact, the cathedral is so iconic, we took photos here as part of our wedding engagement photos! I love how the European architecture stands in stark contrast to the city of Asian influences, like it's on an island of its own! A must-see for any tourist!

While Notre Dame Cathedral does not match the grandeur and beauty of the original version in Paris, this one is pretty prominent and serves as an important church for the Catholics in Saigon. It is also right next to a very famous post office, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel, the man who designed the Eiffel Tower.

Stunning cathedral right beside the Post Office and across the Reunification Palace. Made of bricks, its has an uncanny similarity to its French namesake. Another of the great buildings in HCM. And you are bound to see newlyweds have their photos there.

Another nice piece of architecture, right across from the central post office. It's worth a stop just for a quick shot, especially if you are wondering around the city anyway.

Located in the downtown of HCMC, Notre Dame Cathedral (Nha Tho Duc Ba) was built with all materials imported from France. When its bell being rung, if pay close attention, you will be able to "see" the way the sound moves.

The neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral, near the intersection of Dong Khoi and Nguyen Du streets (still in District 1) was constructed between 1877 and 1883 using bricks from Marseilles and stained-glass windows from Chartres. The towers loom over a large white statue of the Virgin Mary and the nearby Saigon Post Office. It was very serene inside the cathedral and I was tempted to sit down in one of the wooden pews but hesitated as there was an ongoing mass. I walked towards the right side of the entrance door and found Saint Anthony, who is usually invoked for the recovery of lost items (and lost loves?)

Notre Dame Cathedral is a lovely cathedral that resemble the one in Paris. Its a certainly a place to admire and a wonderful place to worship at. This church is still being used today and is located in the heart of Saigon. The original material was shipped from France to build it. However since the war, many of the materials were replaced by tiles made in Vietnam

Aside from the few stained-glass windows above and behind its altar, and its marble relief Stations of the Cross, the interior boasts only scanty decoration, but there’s plenty of scope for people-watching, as a steady trickle of Catholics pass through in their best silk tunics and black pants, fingering rosary beads, their whispered prayers merging with the insistent murmur of the traffic outside.

Amazing that it came through unscathed in the Vietnam War - a great looking building with a great story about its construction. It was in fact a large kit set sent all the way from France
