Description
The Honolulu Zoo is full of a wide variety of animals in a setting that seems more like a park than a zoo. Thanks to the unique climate in Hawaii, many of the animals are given a certain amount of ... Read more
free reign here, making their enclosures very much part of the overall area, as apposed to a full on caged off section. Of course there aren't any tigers or gorillas roaming freely here, it's just that they are not enclosed in climate controlled facilities like most mainland zoos. This makes for easy viewing of the animals here, who themselves seem much more active and lively thanks to the wonderful temperature. They have several special areas just for children, and in the days around full moons they conduct nighttime tours. Perhaps the best part of this zoo is their close proximity to Waikiki, making it a breeze to explore this popular Honolulu attraction.

A short walk from Waikiki Shore. Honolulu Zoo is located at the base of Diamond Head near Kapiolani Park. The 42 acre zoo is open 9am - 4:30pm. It is the only zoo in the United States to be established by grants made by a sovereign monarch. The Honolulu Zoo features over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats.

Fun place to see cute fishes and sea creatures. Right next door is the Honolulu zoo which is also worth a visit.

The Honolulu Zoo is a quick but worthy trip. The zoo is small but features a fun petting zoo very popular with younger children.

I love coming to the zoo to see the different animals. I especially like the petting zoo and the African Safari exhibit.

This decent sized zoo has a variety of animals, but only a few of each kind. There were lions, one tiger, giraffes, elephants, orangutans, monkeys and a bird sanctuary. The reptile section was closed during our visit. They also had a kids playground on site that my toddler loved. $14 for general admission, $6 for kids 3-12 and free for kids 2 and under.

This is such a fun place to go if you are an animal lover. I personally think that one is never too old to go to the zoo. It's so fun to see all the different animals in their exhibits and visiting the petting zoo area is quite entertaining too. The monkey exhibit is awesome because they have so much energy and you get to see them swing around. It can get pretty hot though, so make sure to dress in light clothing. The zoo is located right in Waikīkī and it has its own parking lot.

Small and perfect for families looking to spend the afternoon learning about animals ranging from tropical to Saharan origins. Great "Keiki" zoo (children's zoo) with opportunities to pet goats, chickens, and stand in the middle of a large koi pond without getting wet :) great time for the whole family!

A great and affordable place to take the kiddies. For the wee ones be sure to take them to the kiddie zoo where they have their own petting zoo.

With all of all the tourist traps in the Waikiki area that you should avoid, this is one of the best values for families to entertain themselves. Always cool to see a zoo this close to the beach. A better version of the Santa Barbara Zoo! Worth a visit.

I love taking my kids here. There is so much to do for us. Walking distance from Kapiolani park and Waikiki beach you can make it a day with your family. Reasonable rates and discounts for military.

Great place to bring your child to explore and run around. A lot of grass areas for picnics with the family and group. Educational and fun which helps your child learn.

Love how Honolulu Zoo is quaint not too huge that you would loose your way to the entrance but big enough to enjoy the animals exhibits. Today we visited for the first time the Keiki Zoo (children zoo) and enjoyed every minute exploring what they had for th e keiki. If you are local or military and have identification to prove it the rate is drastically affordable. We plan to come back again for another visit.

I love this zoo! It's still being remodeled but I love how included into the animals area you feel. The barriers are too separating. I've gone here multiple times and I'll keep going.

Nice place for families to spend some time - not to big, not to small, and don't miss the pink flamingos!
