This place is great. The view from any elevator is incredible. The staff is great and the breakfast is very nice. The location for work is perfect. In and out parking is about $32.

This hotel is located downtown Houston, steps away from the theater district. By the time I reached the front desk, I counted five flight attendants each in a different airline uniform. The front desk clerk explained that for every 7000 people visiting Houston for a conference, at least 1000 of them are staying at the Hyatt Regency. Upon entering my the guest room and exploring the property, its easy to see why. This place has tons of amenities, Shula’s Steakhouse, Hertz Car Rental, and Einstein Bros. There is even a Salon/Spa that does everything from hair, to nails to facials! If you are jet lagged, there is of course room service and a small small area in each room that houses a microwave, water and a coffee maker.

Complete with a Fed-Ex store & Airport ticket check-in station this hotel is perfect for business travelers, or simply those that like a business/pleasure mix (that'd be me).
The rooms are clean and spacious, and the lobby is always abuzz. I like that there are two bars, a coffee shop AND an Einstein Brother's in the lobby. What more could one ask for? It almost felt as if there was no reason to leave. I recommend staying here if you are traveling on business, or if you enjoy a little hustle & bustle.

This is right downtown, which puts you in a prime spot for catching a baseball game, soccer game or theater event. Oh, and the Toyota Center is right by too, so add hockey and basketball to the list. Pretty much anytime you roll through Houston, you can easily catch some sporting even relatively close to this hotel.

It's a clean space with traditional downtown hotel architecture. It definitely has that wow factor of hotels we were in awe of as kids. The lobby feels slightly grand, but the rest of the hotel is pretty standard. It is a very clean property and you can tell they put money into upkeep, which is nice since some old hotels let these things go just because they have a marquee name on the sign.

Vic & Anthony's is a steakhouse nearby and definitely worth the trip if you love a great steak and glass of red.

Hyatt is one of the go-to hotels close to my Company's Houston HQ. However, I usually end up at the nearby Courtyard or the Magnolia. But I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Houston several times before and all the way back to the early 1980s. It was (and maybe still is) the Grand Dame of downtown hotels, as I used to marvel at the fancy society events I would witness here during some of my stays.

During a recent trip, I noticed many refurbishment improvements, especially in the rooms, the Lobby Bar, and the restaurant choices. Front Desk service was good as was there prompt willingness to have me change rooms, based on an Internet connectivity issue.

My main negative is that I continue to be uncomfortable with the open center of the hotel and my speculation of how many people may have fallen from one of the floor hallways to their death below.
