Arguably the best park in Houston, there really is something for everyone here. Home to the Houston Zoo, the science museum and an outdoor stage, there are endless options here to explore. Be sure and catch the train for a tour of the park.

It's a very big park so you might want to do three trips. There's one area we first explored by jogging or biking. Another area we went strolling to was the Japanese gardens and then we went to where the lake was. Beautiful and very wide so wear comfortable shoes and clothes. It can get hot so bring something to protect u from the sun.

This park is beautiful! But I believe it will be more enjoyable in cooler weather. Summer heat in Houston can change any experience.

Hermann Memorial Park includes a golf course, amphitheater, reflection pool, Houston Zoo and family train rides! There are plenty of open grass and picnic areas as well, so Hermann Park is always packed on a nice day with folks enjoying the outdoors.
You can get to Hermann Park by taking the MetroRAIL Green or Purple lines westbound from our house into downtown and then the Red Line southbound to the Hermann Park/Rice U stop.

My favorite park in Houston after living here 2 years. Although its flat (no hills alas except one man-made one) it has big beautiful trees and a peaceful atmosphere. And a train!!! Big lake, and its big enough you can wander for a while. Lots of neat areas to explore. Plus you can get to the zoo and there are often free festivals, I loved the Jazz Festival. Japanese Garden is a let down though, its a lot more "Park" than it is either "Garden" or "Japanese."

The first public park in Houston provides a wooded site with picnic areas, running trails, lots of on-leash dog walking areas, the Houston Zoological Gardens, a public golf course and an outdoor theater featuring plays and live music.

Beautiful park in the center of Houston next to Rice university. Great for picnics. Don't forget to look out for Night programs, especially on Weekends, in the Millers Outdoor Theater (free for public).

We love to park at Little Bigs down the street, grab sliders to go and walk to this spot. It's a fun walk through the museum district at night and sitting at the end of the fountain is a beautiful site.

Located in the heart of Houston, the 445-acre Hermann Park is the city’s most significant public green space, hosting more than six million visitors per year.

What to Do
While in the park, visitors can feed the ducks, rent a pedal boat for the lake or take a train ride. The park even has nature trails, and a Japanese garden.
See almost all that Houston has to offer in one spot - the park is also home to the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Garden Center, and Hermann Park Golf Course.

I loved Hermann Park when I lived in Houston. It has great jogging trails, and is very family-oriented, as well as dog friendly. There is a lot to see, and it is beautiful.

Has so much to offer! There are several museums, from butterflies to dinosaurs. Outdoors has a wonderful park with a pond and Japanese garden. There's a train as well and the zoo is also in this area. The Miller Outdoor Theatre is here for free outdoor theater shows and music.

Herman Park is a Houston institution. From the massive reflecting pool, to the hidden Japanese gardens, and back to the ampitheatre, there is something for everyone. Check out the free summer night performances at the Miller Outdoor theatre, ride the train around the perimeter of the park, or just take your pups out for a long stroll. While much of the park's shade fell victim to the drought in recent years, it's still a beautiful place loved by tourists and locals alike.

Great place to take the family. We visit mostly in the summer where they have water fountains and the kids run through it for hours!!! We pack a picnic for lunch. No place close for food although there are vendors for water and ice cream.
