The animals we very active leading to a rich zoo experience. The petting zoo needs a few more critters kids are allowed to pet. It was beautiful and well kept. Unlike many zoos there was no one thing that made it ‘unique ‘ from others.

So much fun, took the whole family. Lots of animals to see and when it gets too hot, head over to the splash pad. Loved it!

The Houston Zoo is great if you've got a free day and can't figure out what to do. There's a little bit for everyone at the zoo, and it's part of a larger park called Hermann Memorial which has a golf course, amphitheater, reflection pool and family train rides! You can get to Hermann Memorial Park and the zoo using the MetroRAIL Red Line southbound from downtown.

This is such a beautiful little zoo! It's just the right size for seeing everything in one afternoon, and the landscaping is BEAUTIFUL. The enormous live oaks that grow in Houston overarch everything, and the various animal enclosures are artfully snugged in surrounded by lush vegetation. There's some pizza and hamburgers type food inside at a few little restaurants. First Tuesday of each month is free! (But because of that will be a touch crowded.)

Great walking Zoo. Well maintained and plenty of shaded walks and sitting areas. Parking can be a problem so recommend you take the Main Street Metro Train

The Houston Zoo is, in my opinion, one of the best zoos in the country! There is an incredible variety of animals in diverse and well-suited enclosures. The keepers care a lot about what they do and the staff is incredibly friendly. Great place to go any day of the week! Warning: parking is hard to find close by later in the day.

Houston zoo does a wonderful job of providing a wonderful atmosphere for all those visiting! There are plenty of in door exhibits spread around to provide a place to cool off on those hot days! Parking is always a hassle so plan on getting there early and driving around.

Best on a hot summer day when the ice cream and drinks taste best. Animals are taken care of and usually out and about. Check out children's zoo for kids and reptile house to cool off.

Parking can be terrible. Trick is to try to go around lunch, many people are leaving so you can get a closer spot. They also have a new weekend parking option. They have a good number of indoor spots to explore giving you a break from the heat.

The older I get, the less impressed I am by the idea of zoos, but this is worth a look, especially if you have kids in tow. Probably no more than a 3-4 hour visit, though, and the concessions are expensive.

The Houston Zoo is typical of modern zoos, but not particularly special. Parking is a pain in the area as traffic control is largely absent and clear signage is lacking. I thought the prices were a bit steep for what you get.

This is by far my favorite attraction in Houston. It's rated in the top ten zoos in America and continues to improve with every visit!

The zoo will always be a place to bring the family for a nice day out and about while also learning something. The Houston Zoo is a bit different though, the amenities that the zoo provides is fun for any age. From the underwater tunnel in the aquarium to the up close and personal prairie dog pit, the fun is non-stop for people of all ages! Not to mention all the different exhibits, for example, the new moving dinosaurs. But not to worry! These dinos are here for pure enjoyment, not a recreation of Jurassic Park. The zoo has always been a fun adventure for kids of all ages, so what do you have to lose?

I've visited the Houston Zoo since I was a small child - and in my opinion, it one of the best Zoos in the country for a large city. There is plenty to see, enough for multiple visits. The animals and zoo are very well maintained. It's also in the heart of Herman Park where there are plenty of other activities nearby.
