Indiana Vacations

Indiana was a sporty state even during its first settlement over 10,000 years ago, when the post-Ice Age Paleo-Indians would hunt Mastodons in this area. The trend has evolved somewhat, as “large game” now refers to a Colts or Pacers game, or perhaps a thrilling day with the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Speedway. Part of the American region known ... as the Foundry of the Nation, Indiana has been a major place for manufacturing since the late 19th century. But fear not: there are plenty of exciting things to do here, including historic Native American sites, and natural wonders like the subterranean river and caves at Bluespring Caverns. Don't forget the myriad of craft breweries and wineries, restaurants, and shops.

of the state, due to its proximity to Lake Michigan. January is the coldest month of the year with temperatures that stay in the 30s (-1-3) during the day. The state starts to warm up come spring, though these early months are a bit of a tease; spring is also the wettest season of the year (and peak tornado season). Summers are mostly pleasant with the occasional heat wave that causes temperatures to soar. Autumn, however, is very pleasant with plenty of sun and lower humidity.

Indiana is a great state to be in where it's the home of #1 Wooden Coaster, Voyage at Holiday World!

I was born and raised there. It's a great place, especially if you like the farm life. I grew up in a small town and helped my friends out with the harvest every year, and I loved every minute of it.

I've been all over the state of Indiana, and I love just about the whole state, excluding the upper north-west quadrant which includes the city of Gary. If you can, avoid Gary like the plague. It is a crime-infested cesspool of a city in decline, where almost every other house is nearly or almost completly in a state of collapse.

Being a native, I may be biased. However, in the course of my life I have lived in 4 different states in different parts of the country, and at the end of it all I appreciate Indiana even more. The people are friendly, the state offers a lot of activities, and the ecomomic and political environment seeks those who enjoy freedom and opportunity. It is diverse, so a visit to South Bend, Indianapolis, or Evansville are all going to be very different. From the flat land of Northern Indiana to the hills of the South East, the state has a lot to offer.

For me the trip was boring and the city itself reminded me of an deserted town long forgotten.

The Crossroads of America, no state in the Midwest is so connected by highways, you just can't hardly avoid going through Indiana to get from one side to another in the U.S. It has plenty of quiet towns with great hospitality and cities with lively social atmosphere worthy of your time.

A wonderful state with acres and acres of cornfield and then beautiful bustling towns like Indianapolis and Muncie. Home to many fun fairs and festivals throughout the summer.

Now I understand Indiana may be a fun place but from the perspective of an individual driving from Ohio west through Indiana, there is nothing but fields and terrible smelling industrial cities. 2 stars for the potential of a cooler Indiana south of where I drove.

Beautiful especially during fall and winter. Foliage colors during autumn is breathtaking and the winter scene, WOW, looks like you are a part of a Christmas card.
