The art indoors at the IMA is wonderful, with lots of variety. However my favorite part is the unique outdoor exhibits and beautiful gardens

Known colloquially as the IMA, the Indianapolis Museum of Art is an encyclopedic art museum located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The museum, which underwent a $74 million expansion in 2005, is located on a 152-acre campus on the near northwest area outside downtown Indianapolis, northwest of Crown Hill Cemetery.

The IMA well supplied with art and fairly easy to navigate. I try to go at least once a year depending on what temporary exhibits there are. Tours and events are good reasons to visit for anyone concerned about staying interested.

Love the IMA! I hope that when they start charging admission that it isn't expensive... :/

Fifteen minutes north of Monument Circle is the Indianapolis Museum of Art, one of the nation's largest and oldest general art museums.

Located on 152 acres of gardens and grounds, the museum's permanent collection spans a vast range of cultures and eras, and numbers more than 50,000 works (including one of the nation's largest and most significant collections of Asian art, the newly designed Eiteljorg Suite of African and Oceanic Art, along with so many other equally impressive features that you should really visit their website in order to be properly awed).

A wonderfully varied art collection. There is something in here for everyone. Definitely put this place close to the top of any Indy "things-to-do" list.

The collections are nice and the cafe has some local craft beer to enjoy. With free admission you can't go wrong. They also have final Fridays with a cash bar and live music. In the summer don't forget to buy your tickets early for the summer movie series. They sell out quick. There are several lectures a year that spam several interest of art, design and horticulture.

Very nice art museum. The guards were a little crazy about taking pictures even though I was not using my flash. Finally talked to the head honcho and all was straightened out.

You know, I can't totally evaluate the quality of the art, but this is a very fun and well-laid-out museum in a nice setting. The new 100 Acres outdoor exhibition is really cool to wander through. The museum has some great programs, including film series, and some really intriguing temporary exhibits. I particularly enjoy the contemporary installations on the top floor.
