It's cash only, and the line tends to move slow, but don't let that deter you.

This place has a cult following for a reason, the donuts are amazing! They also have a great fun variety.

Not what it used to be...this place is undergoing renovations. Lines are not too bad, the coconut doughnuts are by far the best! But, hygiene is in issue...saw an employee in the parking lot fist deep in his nose...praying that there are sinks somewhere for them...

Situated just outside the airport in Inglewood, Randy's is by far L.A.'s most beloved donut shop. Opened since the 1950s, Randy's is immediately recognized for its giant rooftop donut and classics like traditional glazed, crullers and apple fritters. There's also a convenient drive-thru window perfect for a speedy donut fix.

I can never resist a good donut, and since my flight was delayed an hour I had time to kill and grab a donut. Or 4! After careful review of their menu and multitude of donuts I decided on the following:

Glazed ($1): simple yet delicious. This was very doughy yet moist and was super filling. I liked this. I could have had one of these and been good, but no...I decided to also order...
Chocolate raised ($1): like the glazed but with chocolate.
Chocolate long John ($1.10): like the chocolate raised but in bar form.
Buttermilk ($1.10): I didn't care for this one at all. It tasted dry and a day old. Possibly overnight old even. There were parts of it that were moist, but for the most part this was a disappointment. Stick to the classics here.

Overall, the donuts here are good but a little on the heavy and filling side. They're a lot sweeter than I anticipated too. They definitely don't skimp on the butter here! The prices are good and what you would expect from a donut shop. The line is pretty slow moving. My best guess is it's because people order at least a half dozen donuts when they come here. They should consider opening a third window for walk-ups (there's a 24/7 drive through window also).

The dozens are $2 off and most donuts are about $1 - $1.10. They do accept credit cards despite having an ATM machine by their window.

Famous sign and pretty good donuts. Worth stopping by if you're nearby. Parking and drive up window not too good.

Custom donut! Asked for a cruller with their cherry icing and it was delish!

Overrated in regards to the actual product. Better donuts elsewhere but they are notable for the landmark quality of the venue, the late night hours and the drive-thru feature.

This is a classic, iconic MUST stop when you're in the L. A. area. The chocolate old fashioned donut is my all time fave. Grab a few extra for friends you're visiting and they'll be stoked.

Really good glaze donut! One of the best I've had, but it still can't beat Krispy Kreme!

I didn't try the donuts, though the names were tempting. I mainly just wanted to see the spot where Nick Fury found Tony Stark that time.

The dough of these 'nuts was just so soft and reminded my of home made donuts from my childhood.

And some of these donuts are giant! I don't remember what it was called, but a giant triangle apple-filled dessert was enough for 3 people!

Sharing is caring, so I tried a few varieties without having to commit to eating an entire donut myself. I tried several apple filled and apple fritter bites, but I love lemon so the powdered lemon filled donut was my first pick. Soft dough, light and immediate sweetness from the powdered sugar, with sweet and tart lemon filling.

And of course, there's that whole giant iconic donut thing...

I've always wanted to see the giant donut landmark so on my last trip to L.A. I finally found Randy's. Oh my, these donuts are CRAZY GOOD. Super soft, fresh and not too sweet -- and not dripping in oil. I ordered half a dozen donuts in different varieties and every single one of them was super duper tasty. Expect to pay around $1 per donut; not cheap but they are large and delicious. Even if you think you don't like donuts or if you just stop by for a photo op, you will be sucked in by the delicious smell. You really can't go wrong here. Just perfect in every way.
