The city of Jackson Mississippi, in addition to being the state's capital, is also one of the best locations to check out for those hoping to get a feel for the culture of this truly southern state. one day. The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the War Memorial Museum are just a few examples of attractions owing their appeal to historic collections, and, if you are hoping to take home some old-time goodies, there is a thriving antique market in Jackson to suit your shopping needs. One of the area's biggest draws is of a more fleeting focus, as food here is truly delectable, and doesn't stay on any plate too long before being gobbled up. The cuisine here is a mix between Cajun and southern barbecue, making it a real treat for anyone who likes generously seasoned meats and seafood. Whatever your reason is for visiting Jackson, this city of about 200,000 southerners is a welcoming and enjoyable place to explore.

Celsius), and severe weather -- in the form of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes -- is to be expected. For optimal weather conditions, head here in the early spring (March) or late fall (October and November, after the threat of hurricanes have passed) for temperature highs that stay in the comfortable 70s Fahrenheit (low- to mid-20s Celsius). Winter is also fairly pleasant, though wet. If you’re headed to the Gulf beaches, fall and late winter will provide the finest weather; summer’s cooler coastal temperatures are offset by the threat of a storm.

We weren't here long, but it was a nice stay. From what we seen, it was clean and very pleasant. The state park we camped in was great! We look forward to visiting again.

Known as the City with Soul, Jackson is up and coming, housing the Int'l Film Festival in Oct., supporting local and non-local arts, a good quick stop for foodies, historical and a place all its own.
