like this, even if you aren't a windsurfer yourself, Kailua Beach Park is the place to be. Both windsurfers and kite boarders provide excellent live action entertainment from the comfort of the sandy beach here. Make sure you bring plenty of sun-screen or some meats to BBQ at the many grills around the park, since you are going to want to stay all day to watch these extreme sport enthusiasts do their thing.

A lovely beach. If I remember aright, it's a seven mile stretch of sand. Great for long distance beach walkers. There are classes for wind surfing and outrigger canoes.

This is a beautiful beach, with a wide sand beach for walking and lots of shade. There are bathrooms and a lifeguard. Turquoise water, good sand, and just enough waves to make it fun to play in for kids of all ages. Highly recommend!

Nice family beach park with lots of grass and green space for picnics etc. Public bathrooms and showers are available. Also, restaurants nearby for eats. You can rent paddle boards and kayaks for recreational use.

This is a very nice beach to visit, it is just as clean as some of the maintained beaches of Waikiki but has a spectacular view. It does get busy so finding a place to park is difficult on the weekends, so come early. This is a great place for a picnic, snorkeling or just good to hang out.

Kailua Beach Park on the eastern / windward side of the island has a lot of nice restaurants, cafes, coffee houses, boutiques, as well as big box stores like Target & Whole Foods. The beaches are windier and more prone to jellyfish like the stinging Portuguese Man-o-War, but it is a favorite of many local windsurfers, kiteboarders, kayakers, outrigger canoe paddlers, standup paddlers, etc. If it's good enough for President Obama and his family, there's good reason for tourists to flock here as well. Unfortunately, there are residents in Kailua who have a NIMBY attitude towards visitors, but ignore them and just try to blend in and enjoy. E Komo Mai!

My favorite beach to go to. We even take our dog and she loves it! There's usually a lot of people but we are late beach goers so we usually watch every leave.

I grew up on Oahu but have only been to Kailua Beach Park once. What a shame. Granted it's far from my side of the island and it's a bit of a hassle to reach with just one road leading there (traffic), it's still a worthy destination. Catch windsurfers or have a picnic; there's plenty to do here. Buzz's Steakhouse is across the street, so you can grab a drink if you're thirsty.

Here, you can cool down in the water or lounge in the sand. There are also big trees here so the grassy area is pretty shady. From the shore, you also may see some people windsurfing. There are rental shops nearby, so if you want to rent some kayaks or other beach equipment and partake in beach activities, the water here is great to do so. This beach also has a fairly big parking lot so you shouldn't have much trouble searching for parking.
