is a tea house on site, where you can attend a traditional tea ceremony (while kneeling for around 20 minutes). This is one of those beautifully planned gardens with waterfalls, steams, stone bridges and of course, a variety of trees, plants and flowers. There are places along the way to sit and relax (unless it's raining).

Kenrokuen Gardens is considered one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Japan. Its large size scale and immense beauty make it one of the most popular sights in Kanazawa. Its 11+ hectares are located in the center of the city next to the castle. It costs 300 yen to enter or you can buy a combined ticket with the castle. Give yourself an hour or more for a leisurely stroll through. A tour guide might be able to provide more explanation.

I went here during the cherry blossom festival. Wow. Just wow. The garden is open for free for extended hours and during the evening, the garden is illuminated. It was such a magical experience. The garden is incredibly curated (I saw a gardener trimming moss) and there's a variety of textures and layouts that make it really interesting. A favorite for locals and tourists.

Night scene at Kenrokuen garden was refreshing change. Frogs croaking, crickets chirping, lights reflecting on a mirror like pond. Must see in Kanazawa.

Kenrokuen Garden, or Garden of the Six Sublimities is regarded as one of the "three most beautiful gardens in Japan." Located in the heart of Kanazawa, an ancient castle town, Kenrokuen features an incredible landscape of feudal era designs and trees dating back to the Edo period. Every season brings its own beauty to this unique garden, but the cherry blossoms here are superb. The garden is free to the public during the first week of April in celebration of the cherry blossom season, attracting more than 30,000 visitors every year.

Kenrokuen is one of the top 3 gardens in Japan. Each season has a different look. You can also enjoy lots of traditional local foods in the neighborhood around the garden.
