There are so many tiny places on this district! You'll enjoy Bulgakov's house - the house where a famous writer lived many years and created his masterpieces. Down the street, there is a fantastic museum of "One Street". There you'll find out the history of the street and will see historical exhibits.

Considered to be the most artistic street in Kiev, unfortunately nowadays Andrew's Descent is lined with shop after shop that sells cheap souvenirs. Yet, it is an interesting place to walk around and there still are a few good art galleries.

I love this street, this steep hill that takes you from the edge of the city centre to the city's business Podil centre.
On Saturdays, the street markets are wonderful, and great to buy local crafts and unique souvenirs - even locals shop here! The street is also lined with old buildings, some very funky cafes and restaurants and not to mention some great street art too.

I remember strolling up this street with my friend and really marvelling at the Communist stuff they were selling - like fascinatingly kitschy T-shirts, hats, stuff you'd never run across in the States (where I lived at the time). It's a major thing in Kyiv - so you'll probably do it once, at least.

The best part of Kyiv.
Feel the breath of the old city, time changes here. Architecture, atmosphere, ethnic bazaar and original performers will not leave any heart cold.
Though there was made an update lately, Andriivsky Uzviz is still charming and magic place where culture and mystery meet.
