This place is kind of bizarre in that it's like three totally different temples in one location. There's a mini Pier out to each monument and are each different. This place is busy, but there's a reason for that. There are some monitor lizards around, watch out for them! And in the lake there are tonnes of fish which people feed, it's a bit weird.

Can walk to Wat Plai Laem from the Big Buddha which takes around 10 mins. There is no entry fee and you can also feed the fish for 10b. There are places where you can have a cold drink or a coffee with air conditioning and free wifi. Some photo opportunities also if you wish.

Beautiful building with a huge statue of Buddha with many arms. It is an active Thai temple, so remember to cover your arms and knees if you want to get inside. What Plai Laem is really beautiful and colourful place. It's situated pretty close to the famous Big Buddha temple.

Wat Plai Laem is a Buddhist temple complex in the northern part of Ko Samui Island. The Wat (temple) features an imposing and unique white 18-arm statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. I have yet to see this image in any other Wat during my travels throughout Thailand. The Wat also features a large white laughing Buddha and a colorful and elaborate prayer and ceremonial hall. The Wat is distinctive in that it's built upon both Thai and Chinese Buddhist traditions. Wat Plai Laem is a relaxing and reflective way to spend your afternoon and experience some local culture.

Nice Wat located between Bo Phut and Chaweng in the island of Koh Samui. Very accessible by motorbike from either location and right down the road from the more famous, "Big Buddha." The picture above is of Guanyin, who is the goddess of compassion. In addition to this 18 armed Goddess, the Wat also features a large statue of "Laughing Buddha." It's neat visiting Wat Plai Laem because it boasts some different features that aren't staples in other Wats located in Thailand.
