I loved staying at this hotel. Had a very vintage old vegas feel. Also right on Fremont street. Clean and pretty aforable as well, highly recommended for couples

Love the Golden Gate - fun gaming, great prices - and a really good restaurant that's a great value.

Think way back old school. A bit nostalgic looking. Casino area is crowded but lots of traffic of people with Fremont street activities. Nice bar and restaurant inside.

Golden Gate is the oldest standing hotel in Las Vegas. It's the best place to go for history buffs, as there are plenty of historical artifacts, including the 100-year-old slot machines, an old hotel key from 1937 when it was called "Sal Sagev" (Las Vegas backwards) and a ledger from when it was called Hotel Nevada in 1907. The spot where the first telephone was installed in Las Vegas is right outside the casino.

This is not the place for people who want relaxation. The room that we were given was tiny but clean, and had a laughably outdated bathroom probably from the 1960s. The bed was only a full, as a queen probably would not have fit in the tiny room. I have to give the Golden Gate some credit, as they did try to update the decor a bit, but clearly missed the bathroom, at least in this unit. I've heard they have suites that are very nice, so don't pass up the chance to stay here if you have a comp'ed suite. Just don't expect to get any sleep because the noise from Fremont Street below is obnoxious. But if you want to stay up all night gambling and roaming with the crazies on Fremont, this is a great place to crash. And make sure to get some pancakes at Dupar's in the morning!

I stayed here with a friend when visiting Vegas. It was nice and provided easy access to everything. The only thing I really didn't like was the fact that we asked for a non-smoking room and they were unable to provide one when we got there, so everything reeked of cigarette smoke.

There are three reasons you should know about the Golden Gate in downtown Las Vegas on the Fremont Street Experience. One: the valet parking lot is easy to get to and rarely full. Two: Du-Par's diner for fluffy pancakes. Three: the antique 'one-armed' bandits (slot machines) back by the hotel lobby. As a side note, this is the oldest casino downtown, having been open since 1906, when it was the Hotel Nevada.

The rooms here are well-sized and very clean. The décor is lovely with its modern shades of orange and mocha, and the bed and its linens were soft and cozy. However, I thought something seemed to be missing at this hotel. Maybe it was the fact that it doesn’t have a pool or fitness center (though many Fremont Street hotels don’t either). Inside, there isn’t much to do other than gamble. There’s only one restaurant on the premises—Du-Par’s, a classic American diner with plenty of booth and counter seating—but there are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance, and a fun frozen cocktail bar sits at the entrance. This isn’t a place to stay for a restful night, as its location on Fremont Street and the deafening speaker stage right outside the hotel, both guarantee that it will almost always be noisy.
