The location is very good with an opening to the sea and small beach. There are also some restaurants in the side.

An important plaza in Lisbon, the Praca do Comercio is likely to be visited by every tourists here. Also a plus is that this marks the beginning of a great pedestrian shopping/ restaurant row.

Situated near the Tagus river, the square is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço (English: Palace Yard), because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon earthquake. The square was completely remodelled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown, ordered by the 1st Marquis of Pombal.

Lisbon's largest square is close to the waterfront and is impressive. A popular venue for concerts and festivals.

Huge U-shaped (open ended square) that sits right on the water and houses cafes, offices and shops. Was the location of the King's Palace from mid-13th Century until it was lost in the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake and Tsunami. Rebuilt as a commerce center, with a huge arch and a statute of King José I on his horse crushing snakes underfoot. Site didn't bode well though for Portland's Monarchy - it was also the site of the assassination of King Carlos I and his eldest son and heir in 1908. The younger son would rule for only two years before the whole family was exiled and the monarchy jettisoned.

Large main square in the centre of Lisbon. Always busy with people and places to eat and drink. Right next to the river so easy to go and sit on the small beach and dip your toes.

A vast and spacious square flanked by impressive architecture, and plenty of cafes and shops to stop, relax or pick up a souvenir. The square looks out over the Tagus River, and businessmen, tourists and locals alike come here to enjoy lunch, take photos and get some air away from the sometimes cramped lanes and alleyways.

The Praca do Comercio became Lisbon, Portugal's commercial square after the Great Earthquake of 1755 completely destroyed Lisbon. It served as the Royal residence before the quake, and after the quake it becmae the centertpoint of commerce in Lisbon housing the bureacracy involving custom duties and commerce.

Rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake that destroyed a big part of the city of Lisbon, its considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world, not only because of its location but because of the harmony of its architecture. Nowadays you can find a big variety of very nice restaurants and bar. Praça do Comercio, also know as Terreiro do Paço is walking distance for the apartment.

It's basically a wide-open square featuring some restaurants, bars and, again, wide-open space! It's close to the water, so there are some pretty views. Also very close to metro, bus and tram stops.

Last visit here June 2012. What was a big shopping centre now has lots of empty shops. (A bit like kidderminster) Just through the arch is a shop with the cheapest baccy.

Right on the waterfront! You can walk straight from downtown to see this area. Then take a trolley or taxi to wherever you want. The only part I didn't like about this area was that at night there are a lot of homeless people that crowd around the walls.
