Weather

The San Francisco East Bay covers a lot of ground, from the buzzing cities of Berkeley and Oakland to the vineyards of Livermore. As much as the scenery changes, so too does the weather. On the coast, the ... Read more
weather is mild year round, with daytime highs ranging from the 50s (10-15C) in the winter to the 70s (21-26C) in the summer. Inland, winters are mild but the summers can get very hot, often topping 90F (32C). Like all of the Bay Area, rain is extremely rare during the summer, but you should bring a jacket no matter when you travel -- nights in Northern California are cool year-round.

Up and coming city ready to please crowd goers. The rolling valley hills offer endless hiking trails, campgrounds and the beauty of California golden Hills.

With Mediterranean like weather seasons are not drastic. this city will please the wine and beer goers. With over 60 boutique wineries all in close proxemity, it’s eay and accessible for groups to enjoy a day of wine tasting. Livermore also offers a small downtown that has a place for every one. With a few dive bars and few high end bars there is something for everyone.

A locals town charm with friendly tourism accessibility, Livermore is the perfect get away weekend.

So surprised by how fun this town is! It is very large but has a beautiful downtown area. A lot to do and great for wine lovers! There are more than 6 vineyards in the area and a few breweries as well.

I used to work in the VA hospital near Wente Vineyards in Livermore. It was a pleasant experience and the city was nice, but I did not think much of it. It wasn't until many years later that I returned to discover Livermore's wine country that I fell in love with it. If you live in or are visiting the Bay Area and you don't fancy a trip up to Napa, visit the less-crowded Livermore Valley for wine tastings and tours. I believe they specialize in Petite Syrahs here. You'll also want to venture down into Castro Valley's wine area for some smaller vineyards.

Quaint town, but a little slow-paced for me. I think 2 days max is good for seeing downtown and checking out a winery or two. It's in the 100's in August, temperature wise.

Livermore is about 30 minutes away from Oakland without traffic and gets really hot in the summer. Its a great place to check out local wineries, it's a hidden gem that gets overlooked.

Not too far away of a drive from San Jose to enjoy a day trip in mini wine country.

It's tough to suggest someplace to go from SF for a weekend getaway when you haven't given any specifics as to what you're looking for. However, I'm going to recommend Livermore for a number of reasons: 1) it's an easy drive from most Bay Area cities; 2) it's an affordable option; 3) you can learn how to play bocce ball (or watch others doing it) at Campo di Bocce, a super fun restaurant with both indoor and outdoor courts; 4) there's a bike path you can take from winery-to-winery so you never have to drive; 5) you can have a great night out at the Underdog Bar located at Concannon Vineyards, with a large, rectangular outdoor seating area that overlooks an expansive lawn (complete with heat lamps).
