Large steaks!!! A taste of the Old West. Life as a Cowboy is displayed all over the walls. If you're hungry, bring your appetite. Many steaks and styles to choose from. Go to Livermore for wine tasting, and then treat yourself to some delicious steaks! 'Nuff said! A bit pricy, but worth the money.

Yum Cattlemens. If you were to compare this place to Outback, Black Angus, or Lone Star, you have been missing out. If you've heard the saying "everything's bigger in Texas", you'd be right to think of this place as Claim Jumpers or Cheesecake factory portions on steroids. If you are still hungry after eating anything here, including appetizers or salad, than you need to go on a diet :). Just kidding, you are just enjoying your food way more than I am.

When you first get to Cattlemens, expect about an average of an hour wait. If you are a vegetarian please slap yourself in the face, then eat the grass that a horse shieet on outside, because this is not the place for you. After starving an hour, I was ready to eat and with high expectations. A few members of my family ordered the fathers day special, which is basically half of the standard "dinner for two special" order. You will get a 3 course meal, appetizer, entree, and dessert, NOT COUNTING the side of potato, beans, and all-you-can-eat salad (Olive Garden style) that is already included with every order. I fancy myself a big eat, but even I know my limits. So I order the Cowboy steak and decided to mooch off of my bros, appetizer and dessert.

The Appetizer (or appetite-destroyer)
Cocktail Shrimp- Very good jumbo and delicious with great cocktail sauce and horse-radish.

Onion strings... WOW...

The best Onion Strings/ Rings I've ever had. Think of the Onion strings at Tony Roma's, yeah those onions and bbq sauce are sh*t by comparison. The BBQ sauce is excellent bold and bit sweet.

SALAD. Fresh and crispy and cool. What else do you want me to say it's salad.

The Entree
My family all order 14 oz Prime ribs (an option with the special), however I went with Cowboy steak which is a 20oz with the bone, because you know how we do... The bone really wasn't big at all it was about 95% meat. The reason you get the bone! Do you like ribs? Yes. Do you like Rib eye? Yes. Well you get the best of both worlds when you get a cut of rib eye with meat on a bone. Unfortunately, boneless ribeye, some restaurants will cut your rib eye far away from the bone and closer to cheap not as taste pieces of meat. But either way Ribeye is always THE BEST STEAK for barbeque. Medium Rare! That's a no brainer.

*The only con* Cattlemens uses a slightly salty rub. I'm more of an great meat with salt and pepper kind of steak lover, but this rub is still good, but usually I like when the meat does the talking and not the sauce or seasoning. (That sounded a bit dirrty).

The dessert
I'm not much of a cheesecake person so NEXT. Cheesecake is basically cream cheese which is like fat/butter in another form. If this floats your boat or your waistline, knock yourself out.

The chocolate cake! I don't like candy or sweets, but if there's chocolate cake or ice cream cake count me in. (sorry no ice cream cake here) The cake is yumalicious. Although, I will give a slightly better award to Black Angus for the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup on top. I recommend going to trader joe's and you can create the same thing for a bit cheaper.

I only recommend Cattlemens, because the sides, desserts and appetizers would make any woman fall to her knees, no pun intended. But the reason you go to Cattlemens or any bbq joint is for the steak and ribs. The rub is too salty. I'm not picky, but I hope you have a good drink to wash it down with... Expensive? Yes, but you may have enough left overs for lunch and dinner for the next day. The price is a bit high, but you will leave with a smile on your face and your stomach will thank you.
