COD is such a cool place to dine in. I love the vibe here! Recently they have the new Dim Sum menu come out. Really worth trying. My favorite dish is the Pork XLB and the uni pasta is also yummy.

Great ambiance inside with a canoe too! Good for large groups or 1:1. They now serve a dim sum menu and I really liked their XLB! The skin is thin and the inside is juicy. The shrimp was really good as it was thinnly covered with clear, chewy dough. Attentive service, I'll be back again soon!

I literally walked right into seafood heaven. I love trying out new places and I love anything raw and was invited to this lovely hip spot located near the Beverly Shopping Center. COD stands for “Catch Of the Day” and after trying an array of dishes, the name of this place truly suits itself.

I immediately noticed two full-sized bars. They are still in their soft opening so the menu is not 100% finalized such as their cocktail drinks are still in the works of being named. However, my bartender Sidney was an absolute delight and took care of me. He sure knows how to make some killer delicious concoctions that will make you beg for more. He takes his time crafting his masterpiece and I loved all the drinks he made.

The dinner started off with a ½ dozen of Kusshi and ½ dozen of Glacier Bay oysters. These were the best raw oysters I’ve tasted in a long while. The oysters were clean, tasted sweet and most importantly, very meaty. By far the freshest! I also had their Fresh Santa Barbara Uni, Crab Toast, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and Tuna Poke. All those dishes were flawless, flavorful and light. My stomach couldn’t be happier. Thank god I wore a dress that was kinda stretchy =D

This place is also known for their crispy pork belly so if you like pork belly, this is a must order. It has a little bit of spice and just enough glaze and crisp. It definitely wasn’t heavy or oily tasting like other places that offer pork belly. Lastly, get on that truffle uni pasta if you still have room. The shaved truffle was the perfect blend into their creamy uni sauce. Most places are cheap about their truffle but they were generous with that here!

Prices are on the higher end but let’s face it, its seafood! Seafood is generally expensive but when it comes to fine dining, quality wins.

Service was TOP NOTCH. I want to thank our wait staffs - Amanda, Gary and Cameron for being so attentive to our table. And lastly, THANK YOU MARCUS!!! Marcus is the owner of this new innovation Asian-inspired creation and I cannot stress enough that he truly cares for each and every one of his customers. Their motto of FRESH everything truly shows in his craftsmanship and my stomach was dancing with joy all night!

One of the best seafood restaurants in LA. The uni pasta is pure buttery goodness and the bartender Sydney is one of the best in town.

Ahh this place was so good! I can't remember the names of my favorite dish and drink, but it was salmon sashimi topped with a jalapeno, and a purple-ish cocktail topped with edible flowers. Both fantastic.

Love the uni pasta, fresh uni, crispy pork belly, and the oysters. Service was wonderful. Love the ambiance. Will be back to check out their upstairs patio once that's done.

First to preface, I actually went to this restaurant via a Gogobot event, which I am so glad I got to attend after sampling the delicious menu of COD Seafood Restaurant. Actually that's a bit of a misleading name, because even though the seafood and fish quality is great some of their best dishes are actually pork and beef based! For instance, the braised beef cheek? I have never liked this at the Mexican restaurants I usually get it at, but the one served here changed my mind. Tender doesn't even begin to describe it. And the crispy pork belly? Perfect. Usually pork belly isn't my thing because I'm very critical of the way it's cooked, and they did it juuuust right.

But yes, the seafood, can't forget it! Their uni is definitely the star of the show as the uni truffle pasta couldn't be missed, and the poke was nice too. Unfortunately I can't stand oysters so I couldn't comment on them, but they looked fresh.

The dessert we had was yums too, and out of the two we tried I must commend them on the chocolate bread pudding. The molten chocolate combined with the bread pudding gave it a melt-in-your-mouth consistency that really worked for my palate.

Now it's not the cheapest place, just to warn you. But I can tell you that you could do worse in the Beverly Hills area, and you will enjoy your meal for sure. Love the owner, Marcus really knows how to hit a home run with a restaurant. Cheers!

I absolutely enjoyed everything I ate. Everything was fresh. My favorite dishes were kale salad and crab toast. Also their cocktails are really delicious. My favorite was "The 'stache" - which is gin, blackberries, lime, St.Germain foam. They have private dining area on the second floor. Would love to go back and try other items that I couldn't get to taste this time, like sliders, fried rice, and yuzu creme brulee!

To say that COD is delicious is completely understating what Chef Marcus is accomplishing here. Yes! It IS delicious but it's beyond that. There is quality throughout the restaurant. At the bar in the mixed cocktails, mixologist Sidney concocts, *Tip: ask for his secret menu cocktail (spicy blackberry Paloma), to every dish component that hits the plate, and the service - all are unrivaled. The dinner was exquisite. Every bite better than the last. Every sip taking you closer to jubilation.
You owe to yourself - when you're in the Fairfax district - to stop into COD. Soon Brunch served on the patio. Music, and private rooms upstairs. Enjoy!

Overall. an amazing place to try fresh seafood and cocktails.

Parking: Valet or metered street parking.

Service: They are well trained and pleasant. Our group had Amanda, Gary and Cameron working well as a team bringing out dish after dish. And, they knew the drink menu well. They were able to offer suggestions off their cocktails menu and various red wines.
Bartender Sydney was friendly and very helpful with cocktail menu selection.

Food:
Our appetizer was Aji Carpaccio. The Japanese makeral sashimi was so fresh and nicely cut. Loved the presentation - it came with ginger on top. Rating 3.6/5.

Santa Barbara Uni on truffle uni pasta. I think this was even better than the uni pasta at EMC. The uni was super fresh. It was so creamy. Rating 4.5/5. I highly recommend this dish.

Bluefin Tuna Poke - Cripsy onion, furikake flakes, chili oil, seaweed, avocado, cucumber. Poke is very trendy in LA. I enjoyed the tuna. It was very subtle yet sophisticated. Rating 3.5/5.

Oysters:
Kusshi my favorite creamy, little, meaty, oyster, shijoju, and fanny bay.
Normally I am not a big fan of oysters. But I can confess to eating several Kusshi. Again, the seafood was extremely fresh and shucked well. I hate having any tiny bits of shell or anything when I am eating oysters. Rating 4/5.

Kale salad - almonds, blue cheese, quinoa, shallots, cranberry, blueberry, The passion fruit lychee vinagrette was very light and refreshing. Rating 3.2/5.

Crab toast - Avocado, citrus, herb-olive oil, pickled bell pepper, shallot
They give you lots of crab meat. Rating 3.6/5.

Crispy pork belly- Asian fusion or inspired. Amazing. I wish I didn't have to share this dish Rating 4.5/5. I would highly recommend ordering this dish.

Crispy spicy tuna - what only 4 on the cast iron skillet looking plate? I like crispy spicy tuna. Rating 3.7/5.

Wild sea bream from New Zealand house made chimichurri. The fried fish was deboned on the next table. Photo time. Again more super fresh seafood. If you like mild, white meat, go ahead and order this fish. Rating 3.6/5.

Braised beef cheeks with mushroom quinoa - soy garlic demi glaze
First time trying beef cheeks. Rating 3.2/5.

Chocolate Bread pudding - brioche bread, chantilly cream, chocolate sauce
Rating 3.4/5.

They are still in soft opening mode until their official grand opening. Go now before it gets crazy busy and packed after the grand opening.

Overall, Marcus has another great restaurant on his hands. Sadly, this was the original Wokcano location. I would highly recommend this place if you are into fresh seafood.

COD, short for Catch of the Day, is an elegant fusion restaurant serving quality seafood with hints of Asian flair. They pride themselves on delivering the freshest ingredients to their customers and proudly showcase their "catch of the day" over a bed of ice - similar to how you'd see it at a fish market. On my visit I had the opportunity to sample a variety of dishes prepared in a number of ways and I was beyond stuffed.

The uni pasta was amazing as the pasta was made in house and you can tell because the texture is chewy and has a nice bite to it. The dish is blended with their cream sauce and comes with uni and truffles. It's a decadent and rich dish, but incredibly tasty and flavorful. However, if you're looking for something on the lighter side, you can start you meal off with the kale and quinoa salad as it's paired with a light vinaigrette and the blueberries and cranberries bring a nice sweetness to the overall dish. I know you're probably thinking "Why would I get a salad at a seafood place" - but it's incredibly refreshing. I also sampled some of their raw items including the Santa Barbara uni and oyster sampler (Kusshi, Shijioiu, and Fanny Bay). All were very fresh and tasty.

Overall, there's something for everyone here and it's a wonderful place for a date night or to celebrate a special occasion. Two thumbs up!

HOLY SCHMOLY!!!

Can I add more stars?? Haven't felt this way in a long while when it comes to food, service, AND ambiance! C'mon, now... I can't believe this balance exists--each of the aforementioned components made it ALL that much better! But I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise considering the owner, Marcus, is obviously a force to be reckoned with (also owns Wokcano and
EMC, having started his restaurant life as a bus boy... talk about living the American dream :D ).

COD is still in their soft opening stage but going by what I've already tasted (at least 7 dishes), I'm only more excited to taste more once their menu is finalized. In that finalized menu, I REALLY (!!!) hope they keep their pork belly, uni pasta, and fried fish... crossing my fingers!

As for service, other restaurants out there... PLEASE take note!! This is what customer service is all about!!

There's still some reno going on--some final touches... I know I'm going to have to go back there once they begin serving brunch! They'll be opening up a patio upstairs that overlooks the street :)

If you wondering what to have for dinner as you're reading this, no need to look up anything else and stop thinking... just head over to COD RIGHT NOW! :D
