within LA. It is very easy to miss since the place is so small but just look out for the McDonalds and you'll know you have arrived. There is parking on the street or in the parking structure which I recommend since they do validate and it came out to around $4. The entrance of the restaurant is actually on the side not facing the street. As you walk in, you are greeted with a friendly host; you can either choose to dine inside or outside. At first we wanted to eat inside but after walking in, it felt unusually quiet so we decided to sit outside. After being greeted by our server, we looked over the menu and decided to get the famous handmade black & white pasta and the lasagna. We also ordered dessert which I had for the first time. It was very enjoyable experience from start to finish. The only thing that I would like to point out is that the portions are fairly small for an Italian restaurant. I expected the lasagna to be a heft filling meal but it was very small and left me hungry. Thankfully the dessert was the saving grace that made the meal feel complete. Since they don't take reservations, I would recommend coming here on a weeknight if you can so that you won't have to wait. This place is nice for a small group up to 4. Anymore and it kind of loses its charm and intimacy level. If you are looking for some authentic Italian food at a reasonable price and know that you are getting handmade noodles, give this place a go! Be sure to order the famous black and white pasta!

This is an Italian restaurant right along Broadway that you might miss unless you are really looking for it. They do have a nice patio area along the side of their restaurant with patio heaters for the colder days (which we were here for).

Maccheroni Republic is probably the best Italian restaurant in all of Los Angeles. They make all of their pastas in house, price to portion ratios are great and they rotate their specials often enough you get the opportunity to try something new just about every time you visit.

How anyone prefers Bestia over Maccheroni Republic I'll never understand. The dishes here are amazingly delicious, appropriately portioned (as long as you aren't eating to stuff yourself sick), and decently priced. I think the only thing that's a turn off is the parking (especially when GCM is open) but like Mori mentioned, there's ample street parking at night and it's free after a certain time.

4.5, feeling generous and rounding up. I came here the day after New Year's around 6:30pm and there was already a long line. Although I was just a party of 2, there were many small parties before us, the wait ended up being around 35 minutes. We were seated outside with ample space heaters around us, making the environment comfortable.

The specials mentioned didn't entice us as much as the seafood linguine in special red sauce, I was literally licking my plate clean with the complimentary bread. The boy ordered rigatoni, which I thought was just ok.

Service was good and attentive. Complimentary bread had a good texture. They must have some speedy cooks because food came relatively quickly given the hustle bustle on a Saturday night.

Only 1 unisex bathroom, makes for a wait, but great way to chit chat with others in line! I can't comment about parking, but walking distance to a lot of other LA hot spots!

Came here to celebrate a birthday dinner and it's actually a very cute little spot by grand central market. Food was a bit oily but delicious. Street parking or garage parking only.

no corkage fee, excellent service, reasonably priced and great pasta is a winner in my book. $5 parking next to it is fair too.

Best hidden away Italian restaurant with an actual Italian staff. It's this itsy bitsy restaurant a bit before Biddy Mason park. The food is super authentic. The other thing that is missing is their liquour license sadly. I mean, Italian food without wine?

First tip: Don't park in the parking lot next to it because they charge you $5. Plenty of street parking around the block that lets you park for free after 8PM.

Tip #2: Since there are no reservations, have someone show up there to put your name on the list first. Once your whole party arrives, you can get your table. Beats waiting like a bunch of other people.

Tip #3: It's BYOB with no corkage fee!! Make use of it!!

Food: I ordered the Bianchi and Neri, which is black and white pasta with shrimp and mushroom in a creamy sauce. Sooo good! This recommendation from Yelper's did not disappoint! The sauce was not too heavy like a lot of other ones I've tried, and the pasta was just the right texture--just a bit chewy, but at the same time fresh tasting.

Service: They do their best to serve you, but the food did take a bit longer to come out. Doesn't matter to me though because they were very professional about it.

Pricing: Average. Not too pricey, but not on the cheap side either. Very doable.

Overall, I had a good experience here. I would definitely come back again and bring my own alcohol this time!

I came here for dinner at around 6:30 and we waited for about 30 minute to get our table. Once we came in we got bread and it was so good. The bread was so good we got a refill. I ordered the Bianchi and Neri pasta, WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Best decision ever!!! If you want to try any pasta here, go with that one!! The pasta was PERFECT. CAN YOU SAY AL DENTE? I can, because that is exactly how the pasta tasted. It was soooo perfectly textured. I would have to say, it was the best pasta I ever had in my life. My bf got the green pasta, it was okay.

There are no reservations, so make sure to come early and put your name on the list! I will be back to try more from you Maccheroni Republic!

Definitely worth the wait. Actually the wait wasn't as bad. We put our name down and waited about 30 minutes to get our table. So you have a seat and you get some really good WARM bread. The service was good. I just think the food took a little too long to come out, but again the pasta was so worth the long wait.

We got the shrimp cakes as appetizers. Delicious caramelized onions, so sweet! My gf got the black and white pasta! WOW WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. One of the best perfectly textured pasta I've ever had in my Italian pasta eating career! The sauce looked heavy, but was pretty light and delicious. I kind of wish there was more shrimp in her pasta. I got the Agnolotti Di Osso Bucco and it was good but not as good as my gf's dish. The dish looked very little, but very filling and heavy enough to fill me up. The meat marrow inside was good. The sauce was a little different, but good. All in all a good experience at Maccheroni Republic. I wish I wasn't that sick so I can bring my own wine and enjoy it. It's okay, we will be back so we can BYOB!

Definitely the best Italian food in Los Angeles by far! You can't go wrong with any selection on the menu.

If you like cheesy gooey deliciousness I highly highly recommend the eggplant and mozzerella. Perfection!

The pasta is all hand-made and you can tell a lot of loving went into the making of it.

I opted for the gnocchi and was not disappointed. Dare I say it might even be better than the Italian food I've had in Italy. The texture was out of this world amazing. It was soft, and melted off in your mouth, but also hard enough to give a little push when you bite into it.

All the flavoring was divine.

Dessert-wise you must try the mascarpone flan! Very different from any other flan I've had. It was rich and creamy.

Best part of all you can BYOB!

BYOB!

No corkrage fees and you can bring as many bottle of wine as you wish. The location of the place is pretty random- next to a ghetto McDonalds and a bunch of random shops - than there it was a Maccheroni Republic with its a romantic lights dwindling from above.
The adorable server and her authentic accents gave us perfect recommendations - the Black and White pasta entree is everyones favorite!

We also really loved both appetizer we had ordered- the cheesy eggplants and the soft garlic artichoke! just a perfect girls evening!

I'm pretty sure our waiter's crazy Italian accent was fake but I put up with it and still enjoyed my meal at Maccheroni Republic. We were seated outside surrounded by heat lamps. The patio is beautiful and I really liked the ambiance.

The great thing about this place is you can BYOB. They also don't charge a corkage fee so we were able to enjoy the Chianti my friend brought at no extra charge.

We ordered the carpaccio, which I somewhat enjoyed. It was a nice and light dish so it worked well as a starter, considering we both ordered pasta for our entrees. I would probably not order it again though when I go back. The flavor was too light and the dish could have used a little bit of salt.

My friend had one of the rigatoni dishes and didn't like it. To me, the tomato sauce that comes with the rigatoni has some sort of weird burnt taste and smell to it. I ordered the squid ink pasta with fish ragu and fell in love with my dish. The pasta is cooked perfectly, the nuggets of fish really compliments the dish, and the cream sauce is simply delicious. I could have eaten that sauce with a spoon.

The portions for pasta is pretty generous here. We shared the 2 dishes and didn't finish. I was stuffed by the time I left. Everything is reasonably priced. My squid ink pasta was on the expensive side of the menu and even that was only $13.95.

I found parking on the street, which is free after 8pm otherwise there is a 2 hour meter. The area is not the best so be careful walking over to the restaurant.

Tried to hold off on writing about Maccheroni Republic in order to keep the wait manageable, but thanks to Jonathan Gold, the secret is out! Easily one of my favorite places to grab authentic Italian food in the city. And there's no corkage fee!

You can grab a table indoors or on the patio, pop open a bottle of wine (no corkage fee!) and hear the sweet cadence from the server's Italian accent as he summarizes the specials. The Agnolotti di Osso Bucco is my go-to dish, but everything I've tried so far has been amazing. All HANDMADE, and priced to move. You'd spend more at a visit to those awful imitation Italian chain restaurants than a dinner here.

Um, did I mention there's no corkage fee?
