I had higher expectations for this joint; the only thing that made it semi worth the hectic trip to Melrose was the $10 bottomless mimosas. But even those were more Orange juice than champagne..

If you're going for brunch, heck, any meal, try to the shrimp and grits. Charming little cafe that's quiet in the mornings for a nice breakfast and email session (free wifi!).

Base in Melrose hidden inside a hotel, A HOTEL?!?! Who knew on the busy eccentric shopping streets of melrose you would find a hotel. Yes, right inside the hipster looking hotel, is where Hart and Hunter resides, we actually walked right past the restaurant assuming it was just a quick eatery but the waiter saw our 5 confused faces and grabbed our attn. said party of 5 for a birthday !?

I know on the reviews they said they don't take reservations, but with a bigger party they actually do accommodate that!

our super cool, (low V-neck top with hair on his chest, just to be descriptive since i forgot his name) waiter really was just chill and served us quickly and efficiently!
We ordered pretty much everything on the menu.

A bottle a rose to celebrate and here are the plates:

Kale Salad, peaches pecans. sheep's cheese, walnut vin - $12 (ordered 2)
- we loved this dish, refreshing and perfect!

Fried Green Tomatoes, chow chow, buttermilk, herbs- $13
- interesting, they literally fried 3 pieces of tomatoes and was placed on top of a soup of buttermilk. decent.

Mushrooms & Polenta Cake, fresh herbs, Parmesan- $16
- this was by far everyone's favorite of the night! it was seasoned perfectly with the perfect texture.

Antebellum Cheese Grits- $6
another fan favorite, my gf's licked the bowls clean!

Hanger steak -$28
just okay

Nola-style Shrimp boil, corn smoked sausage, Potato- $21
ehh

Dessert-
Lemon ice Box Pie- $8
strongly suggested by our waiter, we even said if its not good can we switch it!
he said "whatever you like" ... but sadly we LOVED IT!!

Overall this restaurant serves ridiculously delicious food! We came out happy - since us girls love variety!

Only reason why this isnt a five star rating- its because it was EXTREMELYYYY hard to chat - restaurant was loud and even when people were leaving, it was still hard to talk - only way was if we were screaming on top of our lungs!

Omg the biscuits are to die for! Also try the desserts. I got the marshmallow peanut butter cookie and it melted in my mouth. On the healthier side - get a kale salad! It's perfect!

Located inside Palihotel, valet and street parking available.

I was really looking forward to trying out this new restaurant, but came out unimpressed. There really shouldn't be a reason why they don't take reservation when there is an average wait for 1.5-2 hours. They do take reservation for a party of six or more, but if you're less than six, you're out of luck!

The entire meal, I feel like I couldn't hear myself think or chew and sitting at a community table didn't help. The party seated with us was screaming their conversation just to keep it going. I also heard the other party's conversation across the room as well...that's how loud it was!

The food was good, but nothing that really wowed me. It tasted fresh and healthy, but nothing new...dare I say boring? We practically tried everything on the menu and I was not impressed. The bill average about $60 a person. I would not recommend coming here on weekends and definitely not here for a date, unless you like to wait a long time and then scream at each other during dinner. Onto the next!
