the best restaurants in Los Angeles that you've never heard of, Abbot Kinney is a fantastic spot to visit on a sunny, Southern California afternoon. It's buildings and ambiance seamlessly blend chic, modern trends with the oceanfront modesty that made it famous. After lunch and shopping, take a quick stroll to the Venice Boardwalk where you can find all kinds of quirky store fronts, meet the bizarre, peculiar and unusual street performers, and expose yourself to a lifestyle and atmosphere unlike any other.

Just so so, overpriced food choices with overpriced boutique stores. The main attraction seems to be the less talented designer want to be's that just rework old clothes, add another fabric type and calling it theirs. I noticed a lot of knockoff clothing. Great place if your into old books or antiques. Lastly parking can be challenging

The main drag is only about a quarter mile if that.... take a stroll up the shops and grab a cup of coffee, from one of the 15 vendors on the street (slight exag)... Best restaurants... SaltAir, The Tasting Kitchen, Gjlena.

Love this boulevard! Every last Friday of the month I spend over there with my friends and family. They have so many cute shops open late and farmers markets and these nice small cafes all over. It's kinda like a local fair with the boulevard itself closed for driving. I advise everybody who is gonna be in LAband especially in Venice Beach visit this boulevard. And don't forget about Venice Canals which are located nearby, charming atmosphere awaits you!

This is probably my favorite strips in LA. It definitely lives up to the name of being the coolest block out here with all of it's really unique boutiques, cafés, art galleries, and restaurants.

Good looking crowd here too that can be full of your yuppies and hipsters.

Trendy strip near Venice Beach, lined with eclectic shops ranging from known high end brands to thrift to antique to kitsch. Nice place to stroll and window shop. There are some great buys to be had if you know where to look, and certainly a great place to pick up a souvenir or two. Good coffee shops all along the strip here, as well.

Not what it used to be but still a pretty fun place to go. First Friday's are a classic with a lot of good food with all the food trucks.

Great people watching, some really cool restaurants (American, Italian, Mexican, Southern etc.) and juice bars, and the trendiest of shops line this street. Parking can be an adventure at times though.

You can spend hours on the stretch of Abbot Kinney between Venice Blvd and Main St. I wrote a blog entry about where to shop/eat a while back. Abbot Kinney is most lively every first Friday of the month, when stores and art galleries stay open till 10pm for First Fridays.

In any other city but LA, this charming strip of shops (Gant, Alternative Apparel), boutiques (Me. Steves Beauty Cottage, Aesop), and galleries (G2, Hamilton Press) would be THE STRIP, and celebrated as such. But in LA, the shopping cup truly spilleth over, and Abboy Kinney somehow manages to sneak by as one of the lesser sung hotspots in town. Skip the pomp and attitude of Beverly Hills and head straight to Venice instead!

A few minutes from the Venice Canals, this is a hip street with unique stores and restaurants. Only a few minutes from Venice Beach. We love the upscale, creative and delicious "salads" from Lemonade at the corner of Abbot Kinney and Venice Blvd. They also make amazingly delicious stews….

When you come to Venice Beach, there is the boardwalk - touristy, crowded, filled with shops slinging junk. And then there is Abbot Kinney - a few blocks filled with high end clothing boutiques, hipster bars and high end restaurants catering to a bit more upscale crowd. Its not on the beach, and the people watching is not quite as good, but if you want to go where the locals go, head inland a few blocks.

I don't know if this makes me a hipster but I love Abbot Kinney. The little boutiques, the coffee shops, the vintage vibe of some of the places....

perfect for shopping and dinning. Shop for men, women, babies and your home. All modern and hip fashions. This area is targeting those who are fashion forward and willing to invest some money to look and live an aspirational lifestyle.

One of my favorite places to be. Day or night, there's always something to do down here. Great eateries (Gjelina, Zinque, Lemonade), good coffe (Intellegentsia) and last but not least, shopping. Don't feel weird for people watching - you only watch because *they're* weird.

Non-touristy and full of offbeat local flavor, Abbot Kinney Blvd is just about my favorite street to amble in LA, especially to get away from the chain shops, restaurants and crowds in Santa Monica. AK Blvd is lined with independent boutique shops, art galleries, coffee bars, interesting eateries and lots of funky-beautiful people watching to boot. Parking is tight, but there are a few public pay lots if you can't find on-street parking for free in the residential side streets.
