This bar is hip and cool, really close to LA Live. There is a pool table and outdoor patio. I didn't try any drinks, but they all looked good.

Cool spot just outside of LA Live area. The entrance is through a parking garage, so seems a little sketch but it's cool inside and they have an outdoor patio between buildings. Run drinks obviously.

This place was dead when we walked in around 10pm during the week. My friend said it was exclusive and you only get in if you're a member or if you know someone.
Regardless of only 8 people being inside it was kinda fun. The life Spanish music made my professional salsa dancer friends go wild.

I'm sure this place is nice during the weekend. I have to see it for myself.

Tucked away a bit deliberately is a spot where you need a "lifetime membership" to partake, however what you get is a pretty sweet spot where the rum drinks are sweet, but strong! Great music, fun times. But if you're not a cigar fan watch yourself, they sell these and are totally cool with you smoking them on the spot. If smoke is fine with you, drop in and hang!

This is a dope joint!!! Love the outside patio with the giant jenga set and open lighting. Not to mention the bartenders are great at their craft. Looks like I will be looking into a membership.

Get your slice of Havana, Cuban flare here at this gem of a bar/lounge in DTLA. It is walking distance from the LA Live/Staples Center Entertainment Complex. If you want to escape with a date or a group of friends from the crowded LA Live area, this place is a must with their dimly lit decor, amazing rum inspired cocktails, outdoor patio fireplace, billiards table, and weekly live Latin music. The bartenders here are super friendly and very accommodating. Their specialities are the mojitos, daquiris, cucha libra, and special cuban beer.

Great place to go in the evening/night or even during the daytime on Sundays where they host a weekly day party called Gratuity with a rotation of open format DJ's playing the latin jams, throwbacks, reggae, hip hop, and even house.

Apparently it is a membership only rum bar, but you only need to pay $20 for a year membership or if you know someone you can probably stop by and check in.

The entrance is inside the parking garage with a small illuminated "Bar" sign to catch the eye.

A "private" rum club with its entrance located through a parking garage. This trendy bar and smoking patio infuses cocktails and Latin music.

$20 for an annual membership

You have to buy a $20 a year membership to go in, but you can bring 3 guests each time. It's actually a pretty good deal as far as cover goes. One of my fav drinks is this fresh coconut rum drunk, refreshing and you can still eat it as well.

Featuring Over 140 Small Batch Rums, Cocktails, Rum Tastings and Punch – Caña specializes in craft cocktails, spirits, cigars, and damned fine music inspired by one of the country’s largest collections of well-crafted rum. There’s a carefully curated selection of every other spirit category you can imagine drinking as well as staff picks on craft brew and local wine. Though rum is el dictator en la republica de Caña, the cocktail selection is generally a 50/50 between rum and everything else that alleviates the unbearable lightness of being.

My Friends lives in DTLA and they are discovering all these random bars and after discovering Cana Rum Bar, it was a no brainer to take the rest of us there!

We walked to this Garage like tunnel and from the outside it looked very much like a Valet stop, but low and behold this was the entrance of the Bar( Before entering, someone in your group must have a membership ($20) to bring in 4 people.)

Exclusivity is a smart marketing tactic, it def gave people that sense of importance. We went on a weekend, the crowd was like a melting pot - from your hipsters to your goths, everyone was just grooving away to the live DJ.

Now I am not much of a drinker (more of a Get fucked up or not at all kinda gal) But, the bartenders made these drinks with such heart and talent I can't help but sit the front and stare at them with awe.

My curiosity proved me right as each drink was delicious- a hint of mint and a kick of spice made me want to order everything they offered me!
I asked for something with fire and he gave me a free shot that consist of Fire! I couldn't believe every drink they made was 12 bucks!

BTW- My friend accidentally made a comment about when this "club" opens and the bartender snap back and said "We are a rum bar sir, not a club!"
good times!

Finally checked this place out... ON HALLOWEEN!!!! They had a morbid anti-sanrio (hello kitty, batzu maru, keroppi, etc) theme with special signature cocktails.

MEMBERS ONLY: The bar is a "members only club", $20/year. I got in thanks to my bf who was fortunate enough sign up for one last year. He was able to let 3 non-members in. From what I heard, it's not that hard to be one. If you're not a member then I heard there's a small cover.

AMBIENCE: Dim. They have an cigar lounge/patio in the back with glass ceiling and a fire place. Loooooved the anti-bloody-hellokitty decor.

DECOR: Bloody kitty dolls hanging by its neck from the ceiling, "die kitty die!" written on the hallway wall, slashed/duct taped kitty dolls, etc.

DRINKS: We ordered some halloween signature cocktails. I forgot the name but one is called "feline blood" and another had the word "dead" and "hello kitty" in them...My favorite one was Natalie K's drink with chili pepper. Tasted like that mexican candy called tamarindo(?).

Their drinks are stiff and worth the price. My boyfriend got lucky with the tequila punch bowl thanks to a generous bartender.

CROWD: Not as crowded because not many people knows about this place.

ENTRANCE: Through a garage on flower street.

HISTORY: Use to be a mediocre bar called Doheny that a lot of people disliked. $2k/year snobby exclusive club that closed down around 2009/2010.

I really like this place. The drinks are great and made with exceptional skill and care. But what I really like about this place is the atmosphere. It's cozy, intimate, and relaxing, but at the same time fun and has friendly energy about it. Probably my favorite bar downtown that I've visited.

Drinks on the inside, a fire place and cigars on the outside. This is a members only rum bar (with more than just rum) that features actual mixologist making your drinks with a meticulous amount of care. These are you're typical college bartender throwing vodka and cranberry juice around. It's actually fun just watching them make any number of their signature drinks. They even taste them (don't worry, they don't touch, they use the finger over the straw trick to get a little liquid) to make sure they are just right before serving them to you! They have a small patio if you feel too cramped or if you are in the mood to light up a cigar. It's seldom uncomfortably packed but there is almost always a nice crowd. Though they don't have food, they have menu's to surrounding restaurants that will gladly deliver if you are hungry. Well worth the membership fee.

Some friends and I went to Caña Rum Bar for some drinks on Friday night for a birthday and had a great time!

Apparently this is a members only Rum Bar. We stood outside for a while, but it turns out the membership is only $20 for the year. It definitely worth it. The drinks are great and it s very entertaining watching them make them. The bartenders really take the time to make sure each drink is perfect. Their drinks are classified under three categories Daggers, Pistols, and Canons. They each vary in strength, so they have drinks to satisfy any occasion from a chill night to a drunken party night!

The overall atmosphere is intimate. with plenty of table and booths to chill and talk with friends. They even have a outdoor patio for smoking cigars!

Caña Rum Bar is a nice alternative if you feel like going out, but want to avoid the craziness of clubs. It is a nice place to lounge, and chill over some cocktails.

A GEM! This place is hidden behind the driveway, but you can't miss it with the big Cana neon sign on Flower. You have to pay $20 to join their annual membership, which entitles you to bring 3 friends at any time. If you want to bring more friends, you'll have to call ahead.

I was here on a Saturday night and it was just the way I like it...enough people to get the party started, but not crowded where you're squished like a sardine.

The drinks average to $12 +tip and they are all freshly made. I think my favorite would be the Flower Street Sour (it includes a tiny raw egg mixed in). One plus on their drink is the ice, weird? Some of their drink has a big huge cube of ice, love! It makes it sooo easy to sip, sip, and sip away.

Here's another for you, 'Brazilian Necktie' Its a cucumber drink with a bit of sour and spice. I quite enjoyed it and the bar seemed to lined with folks drinking the 'Brazilian Necktie'. A good refreshing drink!

Anyone a lover of coconut? They have 'Coconut Water' here and accordingly to my friend, it's delicious! The drink comes in a coconut and dark rum inside.

Okay, be warned! '28 days later' is strong...I saw another table ordering a round for their whole table and I wanted one! It comes in a big mustard color tiki cup with sprigs and springs of mint, yum. I didn't finish the drink cause I already had a couple previously, but this is a birthday drink for your dear friends!

Hopefully, I'll make it back soon. Btw, they have happy hours on weekdays. But the drinks are limited to their mojito and daiquiri, CANA expand your happy hour drinks, pleeeease!
