We meant to go into Dirty Laundry next door but we literally stumbled on No Vacancy by accident -- and boy am I glad that we did. This is a legit speakeasy. None of that "oh what's the secret password", get in with the "secret password" that everyone knows anyways, and yay, you're in. No, no, no - this place looks like a Victorian home which has three doors inside where each one is opened is on different nights. Without giving too much away because I don't want to ruin the experience, there's like random secret passageways to get you into the main bar area. Underneath the staircase is a telephone booth which is really a photo booth and the outside patio was live music and apparently on the weekends they have tightrope walkers and burlesque dancers. Pretty hipster but like, everyone was super cool there. I would totally go again. Actually, I need to because I want to go through the other two doors next time!

Went back to No Vacancy to give it another try. The same bartender seemed way different from the first night I saw him. It's so nice to know that the bar manager cared and took the matter into his own hands :)

I came Friday night. No lines around 10pm and the bouncers were so nice. I got to see 2 burlesque dancers and an aerialist perform. Bummed I didn't get to see tight rope. We also saw Robert Pattinson there!

note: The manager did not know that we came back, therefore the bartender who mistreated us did not give us special service. He treated us exactly how he should treat everyone at the bar.

TIP: it's hard to find a spot to rest if you don't have a table. Try to grab a spot in front of the fire place before it gets crowded outside :)

The owners of pour Vous and la descarga have done it again. Their brand new joint in the heart of Hollywood is an amazing speakeasy with live music, great drinks and a fun crowd! Highly recommend!

if i like something, i am going to market the Shiz out of it!
Since i was first introduced to this place i've been wanting to bring everyone and anyone that hadnt heard of this joint!
The first time was not the best experience as EVERYONE was trying to get in! David, the well groomed guy was the promoter was extremely kind and respectful to everyone that is struggling to get in (rare traits among st promoter nowadays)

Regardless it was just not in our cards to get in! So we tried again on a Thursday evening - and with no line whatsoever, we walked in with ease!

I was initially a bit spooked with the whole old hotel theme, i later realized what made No Vacancy such a "reservation" only lounge!

It brought back a lot of the old 1950s old hotel theme with a photobooth hidden in a corner beneath the stairs and the cute little restroom with posters of ladies in their 20s plasters all over every corner of the walls!

drinks were not bad and though quite small of a place it really is worth a see!

BEST SPEAKEASY EVER!

I recently had a Girl's Night Out at No Vacancy with my girls Sidney T, and Juliet C. and we had an amazing time! We even got to watch three shows throughout the night!

Thank goodness none of us read any spoilers so we were wonderfully surprised and amazed at the entrance. Upon entering we felt like we were transformed into another time zone. Walking down the flight of staircases really felt like we had entered the 1920s era. Old vintage items, decor, and attendees dressed to theme were seen throughout the night.

Once we made it to at the bar inside, the bartender was friendly and helpful in recommending drinks. One of my friends could only have virgin drinks and the bartender happily made her a virgin China Doll. It didn't taste as good as the alcoholic version but it was still really unique! For a stronger drink try the Professor!

Afterwards we made it to the outside patio area and hung out around the fireplace to watch some of the shows. These shows only run during the weekends and if your're lucky you might just catch all three! We were able to catch the fire breathing lady twice, and the tight rope walker. The three of us were in awe after watching each of the performances!

The only concern I have which justified the -1 star is for the horrific parking situation. We drove around for at least 30 minutes trying to find street parking but to no avail we drove back to the venue and found out valet was only $10 not $20 like the surrounding lots. Although, the valet service was a complete clusterfu*k when we tried to leave because cars were coming and going and creating so much backed up traffic on the street to get out. They also drove the wrong cars up so people were pretty pissed. They desperately need to get this parking situation fixed so people aren't waiting 30-40 minutes to get their cars.

UPDATE to below review:
Please see my past review about this place to see how sour things could get. As a result of my drastic negative review, the Houston Hospitality took the liberty of contacting me and offering to make things better. I did not take this invitation, but I did see that Houston Hospitality cared enough to reach out to negative reviews. Since then, I've patronized this bar several times between taking guests and clients.

I am seeing greater strides in customer service and bar friendliness. This bar continues to prosper as one of the more popular speakeasy spots in Hollywood. With this popularity, getting into the bar on a Friday or Saturday night has been like throwing a dart into the dark. If you want to visit No Vacancy, you must come early.
======
New gimmicky bar in town from the likes of the speakeasy geniuses of La Descarga and Pour Vous. It's a bit hidden off Hollywood Blvd, but close enough to have to deal with the crappy parking. Valet can be had by pulling right up to the house at a price of $10.

The draw of this bar is definitely the entrance with a polished touch to presentation. I came not knowing what to expect, but was happy to see that they have one-up'd themselves yet again. The better part of the bar was outdoors so rainy days will suck here. Live music for my off-night visit. Just one dude rocking the guitar, but it was very spirited playing, enough to make Aaron Paul yell out and cheer. Looking above, you can see a circus tight-rope. Haven't seen something like that but rumor has it that there's circus performers on more popular nights.

I'm glad to see a more relaxed dress code than other pretentious speakeasys, but as any bar scene, don't dress like a bum. I saw some guys able to get in with a T-shirt, but it was a trendy T-shirt anywho.

Things go sour from here, so sour that I never want to go back. Great night so far with my girls, but never have I left a bar feeling so dissed and insulted. I almost wanted to make a scene, but my friends were glad that I didn't since I tend to get very loud. Moral of the story: do not come to this bar when a movie star and his entourage are here. Waiting at the inside bar halfway into the night, I did the whole routine of patiently waiting at the bar to get one last drink and close my check. Bartenders take their time here with carefully mixing their drinks, so I knew there would be a little wait. I didn't mind. So newly on the counter I know the bartender would make another sweep before getting back to me. No acknowledgement or eye-contact yet... positive thinking. I knew our turn was up since the group to my right just finished a round of shots. They took most of the bar and belonged to a certain movie star's friend circle. Go for it, earn your cheddar, movie stars tend to tip more don't they. Then blatantly, when you expect him to now come to us after skipping over us TWICE, he has the nerve to try to take an order from someone standing behind us. My girl yells aloud, "Oh Excuse ME! Oh hell no!" Keep in mind that I'm no slacky either having just finished a $35 glass of special aged whiskey and 2 other whiskey cocktails. She walks off and leaves the bar. He skips over me again to help the big group, until I climb up on the counter to block his path with my ID in his face..."Would you please close my tab?" He's lucky he got anything from me.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO A PLACE THAT MAKES ME FEEL LESS OF A PERSON. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS UNTIL THEY LEARN TO TREAT ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS (and an ALMOST FAN) WITH RESPECT.

Thanks to Hanae K, I was introduced to this newly opened speakeasy and had a great time. This place had been opened only 3 weeks and it's already becoming the new hot spot. We saw Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad there. I don't even watch the show but my friends went bat shit crazy over him so I'm going to trust that he's a big deal.

I don't want to give the details away and take from anyone's experience so I will just say that the best part about this bar is how you enter. I was thoroughly surprised and amazed. You must experience this for yourself.

The bar itself is beautiful and has a classic feel. The cocktails are pretty good and are reasonably priced at $10 or less. My friends did have a horrible experience with a rude bartender. Bad service can really ruin the night but luckily we didn't come across this guy until the very end right before we left.

They have performances on different nights. We saw a live band in the outdoor area and the music was really good. They have tight rope shows on certain nights and burlesque on the weekends. We were told that it gets crowded on the weekends so it's important to arrive before 10pm or there is a wait. Make sure you go on to their website and put your name down for a reservation.
