A great collection of locomotives from the hayday of stream, along with classic railway cars and a magnificent model railroad display. Ideal for the family and picnics.

Admission and parking are Free! Get to see the old trains and walk around the museum learning all about them. You wont spend all day here but It's fun for kids and it's just a nice place to check out and you'll be able to take some great pictures. Bring a lunch and enjoy it on one of the picnic tables. ( located at the back entrance of griffith park - off of the 134)

Right next door are the old steam engines (a separate area) only open on Sundays also free but they do accept donations since you are able to ride the steamers.

Fun to explore and take pictures, no much you can actually interact with though. Check out the museum and buy something from the gift shop since admission is free and they need to keep the place running!

I can only assume this is the train museum that Sheldon references in Big Bang Theory. There are a few trains here...when we were there, there were a lot of birthday parties going on, so we couldn't go in a lot of trains. Good thing it was free. They had a few cars and other vehicles as well.

It's not the greatest adult destination, but if you have children they will certainly be enthralled with the old trains that are on display. You can explore at your own pace, climb inside a few cars and ride a mini train. Afterwards, stop by the nearby Griffith Park for a picnic!

This place is awesome for little ones and big ones. There is a train ride and picnic tables. The train ride costs money but the entrance to the museum is free. You can climb on those might machines and learn about the history of early rail roads. For the little ones, there is a train table so bring your trains with you. It will take about an hour to explore it all. All aboard! Chu chu

Travel Town Museum is a great activity spot for children and those young at heart! Admission is free, there’s plenty of parking, there’s tons of historical information and you can even walk through a train! Oh and dogs on leash are welcome too!

There’s a train ride around the museum for a small fare that was a favorite for my nephews! The train operates every 30 minutes. It was a bit of a bummer that I couldn’t ride the train with my nephews because dogs aren’t allowed on the train!

You can have a miniature train ride here. If you have kids, a husband, boyfriend or a train enthusiast you should check this place out. First of all, it's completely free to park and admission is by donation. The train ride was about $2 and it just circles a small area. They have full size trains like cable cars, old trains and a few you can go inside.

its a bit away from main LA attractions, but if you are in the area say in LA Zoo or Griffith park and you are with the kids - go for it
