Madrid... The city of food and drink!

Whenever anyone comes to visit us in Madrid, I always think to myself, "What are we going to do with them?"
The answer is always the same. Eat. And drink.
If you're a foodie or if you just love a night out, Madrid is the place to be! With clubs that open throughout the night, you can start drinking and not stop until the next day, when you finish off with a healthy serving of churros and chocolate. Madrileños know how to pace themselves too, eating alongside their drinks to make sure they don't run out of stamina!
No matter what you get up to, Madrid is certainly the place to get your fill.

La Taberna Del Papelon

Atocha N 16, 28012 Madrid, Spain

Taberna el Papelón is a traditionally Spanish bar with plenty of nibbly bits on offer. If you're a fan of Spanish meats or cheese, then this is the place for you! You can buy a cubo (bucket of 5 little beers) for only €3. I tried Orange Wine here for the first time, and I'd go back again for more. It's in a great location, just a few minutes walk from Sol, located in the Plaza Jacinto Benavente.

La Buena Pinta

Mercado de San Fernando, Puesto 33, Calle de Embajadores, 41 28012

If you're a beer fan then you'll love La Buena Pinta! They've got a selection of craft beers from all over the world, no matter where the brewery is or how small it is.
It's a beer stall located in the San Fernando Market in Lavapiés, but you can also drink there instead of just taking the beers away.
The prices are fair considering all of the beers are imported!

They serve beers, mixed drinks and cocktails too if you want something more special! The decor is really quirky and feels like you're stepping back in time.

Gymage Restaurant

Calle de la Luna, 2, 28004 Madrid, Spain

I absolutely LOVE El Basha! It's perfect for a night out with your other half or with a group of friends. It's a shisha bar that also does food and the best teas in Madrid. There are loads of different shishas and the big pipe is only €8 regardless of how many people are sharing. The bar serves different types of food, desserts and cocktails (including alcohol-free ones!) They've got plenty of food for vegetarians to tuck into as well!

Lateral Santa Ana

Plaza Sta. Ana, 12, 28012 Madrid, Spain

If you're looking to impress on a budget, Lateral is definitely a winner! Although there are a few Lateral restaurants across the city, the one is Plaza de Santa Ana is definitely the most impressive, especially if you can get a table outside. The cocktails are to die for! The menu is mostly made up of tapas with a contemporary twist. Even though the quality of the food is really high standard, it's still affordable and so are the drinks.

I was never a burger fan... Until I discovered Steakburger! The food here is absolutely phenomenal. Your burger is made to order depending on the size and type of meat that you want. (The Mountain Burger is delicious!) The decor is super funky and the staff are lovely and really friendly. On Mondays and Tuesdays it gets even better, on their two-for-one nights!

Chocolateria San Gines

Pasadizo de San Gines 5, 28013 Madrid, Spain

Chocolatería San Gines is an incredible churrería tucked away off one of Madrid's busiest streets. The churros and porras are cooked fresh to order and if you ask for chocolate, you're in for a treat! The chocolate comes out thick, melted and steaming... And the smell! Wow!
The chocolatería is open 24/7 so it's where everyone goes after a great night out. How could you say no to churros at 5am??
The coffee here is always perfect too- try a café bon bon or a Viennés coffee. Make sure to have a look at all of the photos of visiting celebrities on the walls inside.
One tip: If you're sitting outside, watch your bag and don't leave your phone or any valuables on the table!

El Tigre has to be one of the best spots in Madrid if you're looking for cheap drinks and tapas! The bar is always jam packed with people so you have to arrive early if you want to get a spot! You can get a HUGE plastic cup of mojito for only €6 and no matter how little you spend on your drink, you'll always get a giant heaped dinner plate of tapas. If you're looking for authentic Indian food, you've found it in Raja Mahal! Located just a few minutes walk from Lavapiés or Anton Martin metro it has the best Indian food that I've ever tasted. Their mixed grill is so good you'll keep wanting more, especially with the Raita sauce! The prices are really, really cheap and you can easily have a 2 (maybe even 3) course meal and a drink for less than €20 per person. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and will go out of their way to help you in any way. The veggie meals are fantastic too!
