        Madrid Hotel Insider Guide

Who wouldn't want to visit Madrid and enjoy the tapas, witness flamenco dancing, and walk through the breathtaking city parks, like Buen Retiro? Madrid is a vibrant city with tourists visiting from all corners of the globe. Hotel options in the Spanish capital range from luxurious to inexpensive, and can suit any budget. Some of the most popular areas of the city for tourists are the Barrio Salamanca, the area surrounding the Prado, the Lavapíes, and, recently, the trendy Malasaña and Justicia neighborhoods. These different areas vary in price, culture, and activities, giving visitors a unique taste of this exciting European city.

        Luxury Hotels
Guests at Madrid’s luxury hotels can expect five-star amenities like room service, WiFi, and outstanding treatment, but the prime location is what really sets them apart from other hotels. Should you want to have theatre, arts, shopping, and food all within walking distance, there are a number of great options. Hotel Atlantico is known as one of the most luxurious hotels in Madrid. The location in the Plaza de Callao is unbeatable, and guests have easy access to the city’s best shopping, restaurants, and theaters. Another upscale option is the Westin Palace. Blessed with a stunning rooftop terrace with views of the city, this hotel is bound to impress its guests. The Westin has a central location and is walking distance from the Museo del Prado, the Reina Sofia Museum, and the Thyssen Bornemisza. If you're interested in history, the Westin is also a short walk from the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. Other classy options in the same area include the Hotel Orfila and the Hotel Preciados.

        Affordable Hotels
Madrid also has numerous less expensive hostels and hotels for those on a budget. While many of these options are further away from the center of town, Madrid has an extensive train system called the Metro that makes getting around easy. The Ibis Madrid Centro Hotel is inexpensive and only about a mile from the center of the city. For even cheaper accommodation, there are many hostels located throughout the city that are popular with students and backpackers. The Mad Hostel and the Way Hostel are two great economical options in the hip and central Lavapíes area of town.

        Attractions and Neighborhoods
Madrid has numerous activities and attractions to suit any visitor's interests. The street that never sleeps is the Gran Via. In addition to being the upscale shopping street, the Gran Via is Madrid's most famous street with beautifully decorated buildings and a hub of activity at any hour. At the western end of the Gran Via, you'll find the Plaza de España where the famous Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra monument resides. The Hotel Atlantico is right next to this lively street.

Two recently talked about areas are the Malasaña and the Justicia districts. Malasaña is known for lively bars and clubs and alternative clothing and art stores. The Hostel One Malasaña is a great low-cost option in this trendy neighborhood. The neighboring district of Justicia, which is centered around the Chueca square, is the popular gay-friendly area. Every year, Justicia hosts upwards of 300,000 visitors for LGBT celebrations like Pride (Orgullo Madrid) annually. The Room Mate Oscar Hotel is an inexpensive good place to stay in Justicia. There are many different kinds of things to do in this beautiful city; all accessible from one of the many hotels in Madrid.
