One of the best things to do in Marrakech is to loose yourself at the souks! Endless streets filled with shops! Fabulous ! Just be patient as you have to bargain everything!

Hundreds are shops are organised into various trades such as spice souks, wedding souks, textile souks and so on. It's easy to get lost in there or you might not even want to come out. There are so many interesting things to see. Bring lots of cash and good bargaining skills. Moroccans are extraordinary sales people.

Great for shopping. You can by everything typical to Marrakech. Always bargain the price and never buy from more then half or near it.

The scale and diversity make the souks of Marrakech great fun. Prepare to get lost but 10 MAD to a child works well as a parachute back to Place Jemaa el Fna.

An endless maze of Moroccan goods and treasures! Don't be afraid to get lost in the souks, you'll always find a way out. Never accept the first price the sellers give you, bargaining is apart of the fun! You'll constantly be invited in to look at their shops, don't be afraid, I met some of my favorite Moroccan characters this way! My advice, stroll through the first day, note some things you may want to buy, ask around for different prices and go in with your bottom line to get what you want at a great price!

Next to Djemaa El fna , wonder into the souk. Be aware of the small kids as some of them will try to pick pocket you. Enjoy the shops and small artwrok present in the souk.

The souks took me back to the bazaars in India. The smells, sights and sounds are great even if you aren't out for a bargain.

I was looking forward to visiting the souks whilst in Marrakech, but ended up hating it. I was prepared for haggling over prices, and some banter from the stall holders, but I wasn't prepared for the pressure to look at everything, and being physically dragged towards the stalls. I certainly wouldn't have gone in there on my own.

Also, the maps of the souks don't seem to be accurate, and there are few street signs. Be prepared, especially if you stop to look at a map, to be hassled by someone wanting to show you the way. If you let them, then be prepared for them to ask for an exorbitant tip.

It's a shame, but I ended up doing most of my shopping at Ensemble Artisanal, on Ave Mohammed V - a far more relaxing shopping experience.

It's crowded, hectic, chaotic but interesting. They sell everything here - spices, babouche (Moroccan slippers, pottery, silverware, jellabas (Moroccan robes), antiques -- that you can make you crazy. Do bargain.

Highly atmospheric, with broad range of goods for sale. Some absolute tat, some carefully crafted handicrafts - the trick is finding the unusual, and then a salesman who is not hellbent on highway robbery! Good fun.

You will have a fun time browsing at the large variety of items you can purchase, but be prepared to barter and have people in your face selling their wares.

Simply another world. You may walk around forever, but you are never that far from where you started. I prefer going where no tourists are...and that is easy to do in a Souk.
