Melbourne Vacations

Packed with arts, culture, and sport and yet accessible to some spectacular encounters with the natural world, Melbourne offers a little bit of everything. Markets sell everything from art to antiques to produce, or you can wander the local streets, where upscale restaurants, hip nightclubs and trendy boutiques jostle for space. The arts are as ... popular here as is the nearby beach, and both arts festivals and beach activities are a huge draw for locals and tourists. A multicultural restaurant scene offers Vietnamese, Spanish and Lebanese fare, great fuel for shopping in the CBD (Central Business District) or investigating Aboriginal Victoria inland. The Victoria region around Melbourne offers beaches, cave explorations, desert, and activities like rock climbing, camping and white water rafting, not to mention opportunities for swimming with dolphins and hanging out with penguins.

known to creep above 90F (32C). Spring and fall, on the other hand, have extremely pleasant temperatures, ranging from 60-75F (15-24C), and all of the beauty of changing seasons, including flowers in bloom and fire colored leaves. Even winter offers an enticing alternative to the summer frenzy, with temperatures that can easily be overcome with a good jacket and a cultural calendar that includes celebrations of food, film, literature, design and more.

Known for its street art and alleyways, but also a stove’s throw a way from good hikes and surfing, Melbourne is not to be missed.

My favorite city in all of Australia, there truly is something here for everyone. Whether you are here for a day or a week, your time will be well worth it.

Australia’s second largest city is home to many impressive buildings, and has loads of things to do, including a zoo where you can see a duckbilled platypus, as well as amazing museums and gardens. Melbourne has been ranked the world’s best city to live in, and it’s a very enjoyable place to spend any time in.

One of Australia's great cities! Easy to get around on foot and with its easy to maneuver public transportation system. Purchase a full fare MYKI card ($14) and travel around the area all day for one price. There is also a free tram zone in the central business district. Melbourne has a European feel. There is something here for everyone: excellent museums, shopping, a wide variety of restaurants and bars, and a range of architecture from 19th Century to modern.

Melbourne is a great place to stay, eat and shop. The other highlight is a visit to the MCG, Australia's sporting Mecca. Go see an AFL game or the cricket.

Welcoming city that's easy to navigate on the trams. Many art museums, nature preserves, Australian football, great restaurants and pubs. I can't wait to return.
