Florida is known as The Sunshine State, but don’t roll the beach towel out quite yet: the subtropical Central Atlantic Coast can be fickle, especially during the wet season (April through November). During this ... Read more
time of the year, average temperatures stay in the 80s and low 90s Fahrenheit (high 20s and low 30s Celsius) and afternoon thunderstorms are frequent, particularly in New Smyrna Beach. You’ll also see the most crowds and highest hotel rates. In the winter, the region’s dry season, temperatures can get chilly, though it rarely becomes intolerably cold, and crowds disappear (except in February for the Daytona 500). If you can stand cooler temperatures, this can be a good time to visit, especially since the ocean is still warm.

Local from Melbourne

Melbourne is one of the most beautiful areas of the space coast. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Terrific restaurants and lots to see and do.

Melbourne is a beach town, located equidistant between Jacksonville to the north and Miami to the south. It has a quaint old town, beautiful beaches, the Indian River Lagoon, shopping malls, great restaurants, and courteous people (for the most part).

Melbourne is a very nice town on the Indian River. Travel across to the barrier island and Melbourne Beach if you want to have a beach day.

What a beautiful place to grow up (or just visit). While it's not a huge tourist town, the beaches sure are beautiful and there is a lot more to do than people give credit. Only about 45 minutes from Orlando.

The best place to be because my daughter lives there. Awesome beaches and turtle watching in season.

Has a lot of potential but suffering from the nation's economic downturn. It also seems to get in it's own way in terms of development. Melbourne - focus on the downtown, the Eau Gallie art district, the beach and building bike lanes, green space/greenways and light rail between them. High speed rail to Orlando would also help. This place could be golden, but right now falls short and in fact borders on ghetto.
