1920's mansion was built by grocery pioneer Clarence Sander's whose Piggly Wiggly grocery stores were the first self service grocery stores in the country. This museum is a little quirky which is why everyone should go there. I don't want to give too much away, but it is definitely worth your time!

We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon when admission was free, but the minimal admission fee would be totally worth it. It's not just for kids, though they will love it too. There are lots of hands-on exhibits, plus you can walk through the very first grocery store that you could shop yourself in, but there's also sections on the Civil War, Natural History, plants and a lot more that gives you insight into Memphis culture. There's a lot to see and I'd love to go back.

I took my children there over 20 years ago. It was educational and enjoyable.
