city. Cuisine options are numerous, including tamales, seafood tostadas, tortas and much more. Mercado Coyoacan is considered one of the best places to buy the freshest fruits and vegetables in Mexico City, along with herbs and spices. You'll find a wide variety of typical souvenirs here as well, but at lower prices than the more tourist-oriented areas.

One of the "must see" places, where you can find picturesque things as well as fresh fruits and vegetables.

People tend to rave about this place and I don't entirely get it. It's a perfectly decent market, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables on offer as well as stalls selling toys and piles of trinkets. The main attraction appears to be the tostadas counter, an expansive and brightly-colored place serving $2 plates of ceviche etc. Worth a visit if you're in Coyoacán but I wouldn't make a pilgrimage.

New YORK!

I liked this place almost as much as the Xochimilco market. It's smaller, but very lively, especially the food stalls. The center of the food area is taken over by this giant seafood tostada operation (and a few competitors) that is pretty amazing. The whole place is just very colorful and tidy, and a manageable size.

This is a GREAT market. Open air (under cover) fruit, veggies, crafts, you name it. Check to see what days it is in full swing. In the airy and charming plazas of this ancient Aztec suburb, now festooned in Napoleonic-era French town houses and mansions, restaurants and cobble streets. Food is extremely cheap and good here. So are the market's food vendors who sell a huge variety of hand-foods; crepes, tortas, calzone, tamales. The market vendors eat here so you can trust it more thanany Mexican street food. Frida Kahlo's Museum is nearby and the whole neighborhood is an artistic/commercial happening.

This is the artsy bit of Mexico City, with little bars and galleries. The market is an absolute beauty, with artifacts, spices, the absolute works for sale.

Numerous little stalls offering local arts & crafts as well as the usual shoes, supplies, fruits & vegetables. Enjoy tasty local specialties at food stands.

Who does not visit a market, can not say that he knew the true face of Mexico. The Coyoacán Market is one of the most artistic in the city, since traditional handicrafts made of wood, ceramics, blown glass and other materials are gathered here with proposals from local artists. It is worth going a couple of hours because in each of its stores you will find many artistic details worthy of admiration.

If you are a lover of markets, Coyoacán is incredibly attractive. Its location makes it one of the most visited and visited by tourists who arrive in Mexico City, but for the locals it is a very interesting place because of its history, culture of popular markets and traditional Mexican cuisine. One of the best places to eat seafood toast, corn, quesadillas and tacos. Affordable and popular prices. The plus is being able to be between flavors, aromas and colors that this market gives to all visitors.
