the gardens, spend some time at the waterfalls and fountains, and take pictures at the reflecting pools. You can walk between the stone balustrades that hold decorative urns filled with flowers from the region. After looking around the grounds, you can then spend time exploring the 34 rooms that are designed in a Renaissance style.

This is a historic mansion right on the water in Miami. I don’t recommend going in the summer as the air conditioning is not that strong. Overall a cool tour and beautiful gardens.

Well worth a half day visit. The gardens are lovely and good fun for kids to run around and get lost. There is a cafe in the main house but we didn’t eat there.

The maze was destroyed some years back so is regrowing.

Lovely place just to go and spend some time and relax. Great views across to Key Biscayne too.

I highly, highly recommend visiting Vizcaya Museum and Gardens if you're in the Miami area. It's a beautiful, seaside mansion that has gardens similar to Versailles. Absolutely beautiful and only $18. They have a cafe as well, so you could easily spend a day there.

Wealthy businessman James Deering commissioned the building of his summer estate in a style reminiscent of the Italian Renaissance. The waterfront villa and its landscaped gardens are the site of many romantic weddings and other events, such as art exhibitions, film screenings, and culinary demonstrations. I love their Moonlight Tours, where live music is played at the cafe, and the Movie Night, recently showing Alice in Wonderland; these events get sold out fast even though tickets are $20.

Vizcaya was created as James Deering’s subtropical winter home in the 1910s and today it is a National Historic Landmark and accredited museum. We invite you to learn about Vizcaya’s fascinating history and the individuals responsible for the unusual estate’s origins, evolution and ongoing management.

Vizcaya is a truly breathtaking estate & feat of the imagination created by billionaire James Deering as sanctuary from his failing health in the 1920's. I didn't expect to be so intrigued leaving the beach behind but do yourself a favor and go. Your are free to roam the mansion, grounds & gardens as you please. There's plenty to see and learn about it's illustrious guests, dwellers and Baroque architecture. The loggias and mythological statues & mermaids that rise from the waters of Biscayne Bay will enchant and be hard to shake from your thoughts after. See for yourself. Tip: there's a cafe-style cafeteria to snack refresh with a quite bite but also drive to nearby Coral Cables for dinner and drinks.

Vizcaya has been described as “the finest private house ever built in America,” “a jewel among Miami’s skyscrapers and subdivisions,” and “some Noah’s Ark of decorative arts,” its exteriors offering the “manic tranquility of the great European folly gardens.”

This used to be the mansion and gardens of James Deering. The house itself is beautiful and luxurious. There are European and Asian influences throughout. The garden is massive and can be explored for an hour or so. Unfortunately, the upkeep isn't as good as it should be though.

Businessman James Deering's wonderland inspired by Italian Renaissance and baroque style. Where else can you go in the U.S. with Venice in the backyard and Tuscany on the southwest lawn??
