The best part about the Art Institute? The admission is free. The museum is large, and the art inside is beautiful. Exhibits switch around frequently. This is a perfect place to take your family for an afternoon without spending a dollar.

This is a fun museum for the whole family on family day - held monthly. Each month has a different theme and family friendly activities. Older kids might enjoy the museum on other days as well. They provide a printed scavenger hunt for visitors to help you explore the museum. The museum is free. You could probably spend all day here and not see everything, there is just so much. To top it off, it's free to get in. And you can find Rembrandt's "Lucretia" here.

One of my favorite museums with a great art collection and free admission. Check it out during the winter holidays when the period rooms are brilliantly decorated.
